YCD Wireless is now providing free WIFI for those visiting downtown Ionia. Utilizing state of the art hardware
mounted on the front of YCD’s downtown Ionia location, they are now beaming FREE WIFI from M-66 to the
DDA office. Now you will be able to use your phone when visiting the downtown and many of its new businesses.
The WIFI is not meant to replace your existing service, but rather provide customers with the ability to share
selfies and communicate with loved ones. Expect service speeds of 30mbps or better depending upon signal
strength. The current hardware can accommodate 3,000 to 5,000 people at one time.

Buy Nearby Weekend Slated for October 4th - 5th
Mark your calendars for the Buy Nearby Campaign that kicks off
October 4th. The Michigan Retailers Association promotes their
annual “Buy Nearby Weekend” to boost the state’s economy by
marketing small businesses. “If Michiganders switched just one in
ten purchases from an out-of-state seller to a Michigan store, it would
fuel our economy with an extra $1.2 billion. The Buy Nearby
campaign promotes Michigan retail businesses and educates
consumers on why it’s important to keep our shopping dollars in
Michigan.” Stop by one of our many great businesses October 4th -
5th to support state and local purchases. If every shopping member
of our community switched one purchase from online to a direct sale
within an Ionia business, the gain would be tremendous! You can
make a difference!
Ladies Night Out in Downtown Ionia
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 9th from 5pm to 7:30pm for the annual Ladies Night Out
event. Vendors will be stationed and open for business in the Armory / Community Center and Steele
Street Hall this year. Area businesses have donated door prizes which will be presented throughout the
evening. Shop the local downtown stores for specials and deals galore. This annual event is held to raise
money for women with breast cancer - all proceeds support the Tom Louck’s Cancer Foundation. For more
