How to download ebooks to your Nook Color or Nook Tablet using the OverDrive Media Console. If you do not have one of those three Nooks, or do not have wireless, you'll want the instructions "Downloading OverDrive ebooks to your eReader" instead.

Using OverDrive with the Alachua County Library District

Download the OverDrive Media Console app from the app store. It is free.

Open OverDrive Media Console.Touch the menu at the bottom.

Touch App Settings at the bottom of the screen.

To authorize your device, you need an Adobe ID. If you don’t already have one, touch Get a free Adobe ID.

The browser opens to the page for Adobe account creation. Fill out the required fields and click Create.

Once you have finished signing up for an Adobe ID, return to the OverDrive app to Authorize.

Touch the menu button and then the Get Books button.

Touch Add a Library at the bottom of the screen.

Search for your library by entering Alachua County Library District or your zip code.

Select the library from the list.

Tap the star beside the library to make it a favorite (so you don’t have to do this step again).

Tap the library’s name beside the star to go into our OverDrive collection.

You will now see our OverDrive collection.

If you haven’t yet used the new OverDrive, you’ll want to Sign In first thing, to set your lending periods.

You will be asked to enter your library card number (no spaces, no dashes) and PIN. Tap Sign In.

From your Account page, tap Settings.

Set the lending periods to your preferences and tap Done. Checkout periods will rely on your settings here.

Now you can either search or Browse for titles you’re interested in.

Available titles will show a dark gray icon at the top right corner. Unavailable titles will show light gray.

Tap Available Now to show only items available right away.

Tap the cover of a book and then tap Borrow. If you see only Place a Hold, the title is checked out.

Many titles can be Read in your browser.

If you would rather read the book in the OverDrive app, tap on Download and select EPUB.

You will see the message “Loading New Title,” followed by a notification that your download has finished.

When your book is done downloading, tap the menu button and then the bookshelf.

Tap the cover to open the book and start reading.

• Your eBooks will appear on your bookshelf in OverDrive Media Console. (You will get an error message if you try to open them from My Stuff / My Files / OverDrive.)
