Course Description This course is designed for those interested in Zero Net Energy (ZNE) Buildings. We will discuss what it means to be Zero Net Energy and how definitions of ZNE vary. As California moves towards ZNE by 2020 for residential structures we will discuss the process and hurdles to making ZNE the standard for the state. Some local jurisdictions are adopting ZNE early. This course will cover how code required ZNE differs from other structures considered to be ZNE. Many of the recurring questions surrounding ZNE will be discussed such as: Is ZNE cost effective? How do we get to ZNE? Why is California requiring ZNE? How do you make existing buildings ZNE?
