A Message from the Pastor:
My Friends in the Lord Jesus,
Lent is a season of preparation for the celebration of the triumph of the Lord, his Cross and Resurrection. Lent is a season to renew our hearts in his grace. During these stressful and difficult days this Lent, let us find strength in our shared faith. The suffering of so many finds an echo in our hearts. This Lent is surely a share in the suffering of the Cross. But not without hope. In my prayer for all of you and for the countries of the world, I hear the voice of the Lord saying “Do not be afraid, I am with you.” It is the voice of encouragement and hope.
The Sacred Scripture, the Old and New testament, is filled with accounts of people in distress, people suffering, people anxious about family and friends, and bringing their needs to the Lord. Every one’s story is a human story. Every story is an example of an act of faith and trust in the Lord. Let us confidently do the same.
The Gospel according to Luke, Chapter 24: 13 - 35, tells the story two of two people, on the evening of Easter Sunday, who are feeling down cast and bewildered. The two are walking home to their town of Emmaus. Jesus, risen, comes and walks along with them. Concerned about events, they fail to recognize who it is with them. Although they do not recognize him, he knows all about them, and their concern. The unrecognized Jesus invites them to unburden their hearts to him. It is a story of accompaniment, of the divine presence of the Lord. It is an account of God true to his word, “Do not be afraid, I am with you.”
St. Paul writes “Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God.” So, let us continue to be united in prayer, in faith and in compassionate concern for one another. Let us be mindful of our homebound and older parishioners, families and the challenges they are experiencing, and our healthcare and research professionals.
Let us pray:
“In our anxiety, fear and uncertainty, when hearts are heavy with the load we bear…yours is the peace that calms, the peace that comforts, the peace that gives us strength to carry on. Yours is the voice we long to hear, the persistent whisper in our ear, ‘Be still, and know that I am God…’” (Faithandworship.com/prayers)
Remember to continue, for your own health and with compassionate concern for the health of others, to follow the important guidelines of our health professionals to do your part to “flatten the curve” of COVID - 19, the Coronavirus.
Blessings in the Lord,
Fr. Ron

Bishop Robert J. McManus has suspended all public Masses including
Sunday Mass obligation until further notice.
United in Prayer
The Church building will be open 24 hours for prayer.
The bishop is encouraging Catholics to continue to pray with the local Catholic community by viewing Sunday Mass at 6PM and daily Mass at 9Am on Spectrum Channel 193. The Masses are also streamed on worcesterdiocese.org and on the parish website.
Let us pray for our healthcare professionals and the health and wellbeing of all people.
“After carefully reviewing the sound advice of medical professionals and the recent order by Governor Baker to limit gatherings to 25 participants, I have decided to suspend all public celebrations of Mass until further notice in the hope of slowing and, God willing, halting the spread of this disease. The obligation to take part in the Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation is thereby lifted.”
Prayer in Time of Pandemic
O God, whose Only Begotten Son bore the weight of human suffering
for our salvation, hear the prayers of your Church for our sick brothers and sisters
and deliver us from this time of trial.
Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your Son: Be not afraid, for I am with you always.
Bless all doctors and nurses, researchers and public servants;
give us the wisdom to do what is right and the faith to endure this hour,
that we might gather once again to praise your name in the heart of your Church,
delivered from all distress and confident in your mercy.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Praying the Stations of the Cross at Home
The Stations of the Cross began as the practice of pious pilgrims to Jerusalem who would retrace the final journey of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Later, for the many who wanted to pass along the same route, but could not make the trip to Jerusalem, a practice developed that eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church.
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
First Station ~ Jesus is Condemned to Death
Second Station ~ Jesus Bears His Cross Third Station ~ Jesus Falls for the First Time
Fourth Station ~ Jesus Meets His Mother
Fifth Station ~ Jesus is Helped by Simon
Sixth Station ~ Jesus and Veronica
Seventh Station ~ Jesus Falls for the Second Time Eighth Station ~ Jesus Speaks to the Women
Ninth Station ~ Jesus Falls for the Third Time
Tenth Station ~ Jesus is Stripped of His Garments
Eleventh Station ~ Jesus is Nailed to the Cross Twelfth Station ~ Jesus Dies on The Cross
Thirteenth Station ~ Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross
Fourteenth Station ~ Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
