We will position the Club at the ‘heart of the community’ and take a proactive approach to attracting and retaining our target customer groups.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation is a registered charity that delivers community projects across the county. Using the power of sport, and cricket in particular, the foundation aims to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of those living in Yorkshire.Every year the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation works and engages with over 60,000 people, delivering projects and initiatives that educate, inspire and motivate individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The Yorkshire Cricket Foundation works in partnership with the Yorkshire County Cricket Club and the Yorkshire Cricket Board to deliver these aims and maximise the opportunities available for everyone to learn, participate and benefit from sport.
CRICKET IN THE COMMUNITY
Top GunTop Gun is a competition to find the fastest bowler in Yorkshire. Entrants of all ages and abilities are given the opportunity to have their pace measured by a speed gun. The fastest bowlers from each region of Yorkshire are then put into a regional final during the interval of a T20 match, the winners of which will then compete in a grand final during England’s One-Day International against India at Headingley. 111 bowlers have taken part in this year’s competition.
Children’s Day6,000 people attended Children’s Day at Headingley in 2013. All of the activities are free to attendees, setting this event apart and ensuring it is accessible to all. Activities have previously included: cricket, football & rugby competitions and coaching, dance and art workshops, along with numerous other interactive stalls suitable for children and adults alike.
The Grey Fox Trophy FinalThe Grey Fox Trophy Final is a competition held at Headingley
every year and is aimed at the over 50s that still play a competitive standard of cricket. The tournament consists of 12 teams that are put into four groups of three with the winners of each group progressing into a semi-final then a final match which is played at Headingley Stadium.
The Drax CupThe Drax Cup is now the largest U9s mixed cricket competition in the country and was started in 2007. Since its inception, over 12,500 children have taken part from 400 primary schools across the county. Finals day is held at Headingley before a T20 match.
EDUCATION IN THE COMMUNITY
Cricket in the ClassroomCricket in the Classroom is our flagship scheme. This education scheme runs every Wednesday and Thursday during term time and engages with 120 young people each week. The youngsters come along to Headingley Cricket Ground for the day for free and take part in a classroom session, teaching them about the history and heritage of Yorkshire cricket. In the last academic year over 4000 children took part in the scheme.
THE YORKSHIRE CRICKET FOUNDATIONUsing the power of cricket to engage with the wider community
Yorkshire Elite LeadersAcademyThe scheme was started in 2008 when 20 young leaders from South Yorkshire came to the stadium to experience “a day in the life of Headingley”. The scheme evolved into 330 young leaders from across Yorkshire attending 11 days and eight match day activity days in 2009. The Academy benefits those who have shown an active interest in volunteering within cricket. Successful applicants will then have access to various qualifications including UKCC Level 1 and 2 coaching courses, working in schools qualification, first aid certificates along with placements and work experience at Yorkshire County Cricket Club or the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation
Sporting InfluenceThe scheme works with primary school children in years five and six, developing their social skills such as respect, etiquette, communication, trust, responsibility, leadership and teamwork. These skills are linked to professional cricket and the children learn how these link to everyday life. This innovative scheme mixes classroom based sessions with cricket coaching and also links to local cricket clubs. The scheme was recognised by the ECB in 2013 after it was shortlisted for the national ECB Business of Cricket Award.
Lend Me Your LiteracyThis project aims to tackle a major problem occurring in primary schools around falling levels in
literacy standards. Working closely with literacy organisations, we run a number of days at the stadium inviting primary schools to take part. The days use the power of cricket to inspire children’s writing and encourage to them to express their thoughts creatively on paper. The scheme has been hugely successful and is backed by local education authorities.
HISTORY & HERITAGE
MuseumThe Yorkshire Cricket Museum is located in the East Stand at Headingley Cricket Ground. The museum opened in 2011 and is a ‘must see’ for every Yorkshire Cricket fan. It opens during every domestic home match and fans are able to enter free of charge. We are now conducting weekly tours of the museum for school children, linked to our cricket in the classroom scheme. In 2013 over 5000 people entered the Club museum.
Mobile Museum The mobile museum build was commissioned in January 2013 using a grant obtained from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The build and fit out was completed in April 2013 and from May we began visiting schools, community events and cricket clubs. The mobile museum gives people from all over Yorkshire the opportunity to learn about the history of the Club.

Customer Relationship Management
YCCC went live with the AudienceView system at the end of 2013. We recognised the needs to both modernise and streamline our e-commerce activity and also to improve and focus our marketing strategies.AudienceView affords spectators the opportunity to pick their own seat(s) via the navigable representation of the stadium seating areas. It also allows us, the Club, to plan staffing and stewarding levels with far greater precision. AudienceView gives us an overall view of the whole scope of customer activity. No longer are ticket purchases, the hiring of indoor nets, merchandise sales and hospitality bookings
separate and discrete activities. AudienceView now links all facets of our commercial activity and means that we can instigate dynamic and customer-specific marketing initiatives based upon the entirety of an individual’s interaction with the Club.We are always looking at ways of both improving and extending the relationships we foster with the Yorkshire cricketing public, and with AudienceView it now starts with, and is driven by, the customer. Real-time information ensures the relationship we have with each Yorkshire fan is relevant to both parties. We are now a far more commercially coordinated and coherent business, and that can only bode well for our future both on and off the pitch.
