Communication, and getting parents into school, is key
Asking parents to be involved in their children's education is not just a 'nice idea' WE CAN’T DO THIS JOB WITHOUT YOUR HELP.
Time children spend at home vs. at school (birth to Leaving Secondary Education) 15% at school, 85% home and other.
Addressing parents on the importance of supporting their child’s learning as part of information sessions.Discuss with parents specific things they can do to help their children.
● Involve parents in homework (Planners), creating an opportunity for discussion and reinforcing high expectations; this will help to raise awareness of what children are doing at school. ● Exercise books and Revision Guides ● Ensure parents know that information is being sent home. One sheet of paper is best. 80% of the people will spend just 30 seconds reading what is sent home.
17 days off in a year (over 90% attendance) leads to an average drop of a full grade for each GCSE subject.

How is ‘Progress8’ calculated?
• Based on Points Score calculation:
Progress 8 measures in 2016 will change from the current 16-58 scale [A*-G] to a 8-1 point scale
If a pupil has not taken the maximum number of qualifications that count in each group then they will receive a point score of zero for that empty slot

How is the school’s performance calculated in ‘Progress8’?:
Progress 8 (School) = +0.6 ie approx 0.5 grades above per subject above average against National
