X-RAY ROOM PARTITION WALLSWith TE 12.5 mm plasterboardA non-load-bearing X-Ray room partition wall, which is formed by fixing lead plate and COREX onto the face of the metal frame that is exposed to radiation, and by screwing a double layer of plasterboard to the other face
■ It is used in walls which are exposed to radiation, in X-ray rooms of hospitals and health institutions.
■ For mechanical performance, the maximum height is 7.8 m and the weight range is 45-46 kg/m2.
■ Sound and heat insulation performance increases when Mineral wools are used in the wall space.

■ In the abbreviation BD 123 / 50x2, BD refers to the partition wall, 123 (mm) refers to total wall width and 50 (mm) refers to the width of the profile used.
■ The abbreviation TE refers to plasterboard with “tapered edge”.
These values are given for Beyaz COREX and Yeşil COREX and should be increased by 7-10 kg/m2 for Kırmızı COREX and Bordo COREX.
Technical specifications of the mineral wool used when calculating this value are as follows:

The thickness of the lead plate to be used in the X-Ray room walls must be calculated by an expert on the subject, and depends on criteria such as the intensity of the radiation, the volume of the room, etc.
Increases by 2-10 kg/m2 depending on the weight of the Mineral wool to be used in the partition wall space.
EI 120 stands for “120 minutes fire resistance” where E =”Integrity” and I =”Insulation”, according to TS EN 13501-1.
This is calculated for Beyaz COREX by taking the pressure affecting the partition wall to be 20 kgf/m2 and a maximum deflection of h/360, using Eureka software. (h = wall height)
These values, calculated using Insul software in Rw, were created for Beyaz COREX by comparing with the laboratory tests. Please contact our technical service for the values for different COREX types.

APPLICATION■ The position of the partition wall is determined.■ The line where tracks (DU 50 - DU 75 - DU 100) shall be fixed is marked on the floor and ceiling.■ DU tracks are prepared and cut according to the length of the partition wall to be erected.■ Studs (DC 50 - DC 75 - DC 100) are cut 1 cm shorter than the height of the ceiling.■ Before fixing, COREX resilient tape is affixed to the bottom of DU tracks and DC studs which will be attached to side
walls, in accordance with the width of the profile used (50-75-100 mm).■ The axis (centre-to-centre) spacing of the DC studs should be 60 cm (or 40cm). Additional DC studs are placed on the
joints of lead sheets according to the width of the lead sheets to be used.■ The DU tracks are fixed to the floor and ceiling at intervals of 60 cm using COREX dowel-screws (8 mm plastic dowel
and 45 mm screw).■ The DC studs are inserted into the DU tracks. (DC studs are not fixed to DU tracks except for the edges and transoms
of the doors and windows.) The first DC profile is fixed with a dowel-screw to the existing wall at a spacing of 60 cm.■ A chamfer is made at the short and cut edges of the COREX boards (12.5 mm) before fixing. There must be no gap
between the top edge of the plasterboard and the ceiling and the bottom edge of the plasterboard and the floor. Plasterboards should be centred on the flanges of the DC profiles.
■ On the face of the wall that will not be exposed to radiation, the first layer of plasterboard is fixed to the DU track and DC studs with 25 mm COREX Self-tapping screws at intervals of maximum 75 cm, and the second layer, the joints of which are offset from the joints of the first layer, is fixed with 38 mm COREX Self-tapping screws with a maximum vertical spacing of 30 cm and at offset. Screw heads should be flush with the plasterboard but should not penetrate the paper and enter the core.
■ If Mineral wool is to be used, these materials are placed in the cavity between the DC studs before the other surface is clad.
■ On the other side of the wall, that is exposed to the radiation, the first layer of plasterboard is fixed with 25 mm Self-tapping screws at intervals of 75 cm.
■ The lead sheet is screwed onto the first layer of plasterboard on the exposed wall so that there is no gap between its top edge and the ceiling and its bottom edge and the floor.
■ The second layer of plasterboard is fixed using 38 mm Self-tapping screws at intervals of 30 cm, and the screw heads are covered by affixing a 5 cm wide lead tape.
■ The third layer of plasterboard is pasted onto the second layer of plasterboard with ADERTEK adhesive gypsum mortar in at least 4 lumps of ADERTEK horizontally per sheet of plasterboard and at 40 cm intervals vertically.
■ All gaps wider than 3 mm are filled with DERZTEK joint compound.■ Screw heads protruding on the plasterboard surface on the face of the wall which is not exposed to radiation are
checked and tightened with a screwdriver, so they are flush with the surface. All screw heads are covered with joint compound.
■ COREX joint tape is affixed by pressing it along the centre of the plasterboard joints on both faces.■ A first layer of joint compound shall be applied to the joint tape to a width of 10 cm. It should be left to dry for at least
two hours, then the surface roughness must be removed, and a second layer of joint compound applied to a width of 20 cm.
■ To use lead tapes to prevent radiation passing through screws and the joints in the lead plates. ■ To make sure there are no gaps at all between the plasterboard / lead plates and the ceiling or floor■ To use corner profiles or corner tapes to ensure the corners of the partition wall are perpendicular, and to
increase resistance to impact ■ To apply Skim plaster to achieve a smooth and uniform surface
