Greek Mythology
1. Create a power point or other document on
Ancient Greece and the facts that everyone
needs to know. Consider:
Greece and important settings in Greek
myths
Key figures in Ancient Greek history
Why Ancient Greece is relevant today
Famous Greek myths and the lessons readers
should learn from them.
2. Create your own Ancient Greece artefact, with a
page describing what you have made and how it
was made. It could be an ancient story on a
scroll, a building, an important object etc.

Power and Conflict Poetry
1. Research the First World War and produce a
power point or written document outlining your
findings. Focus on the following:
What were the causes
What was warfare like for soldiers
What were the repercussions of the 1st
World War in terms of British society and
their lives during and after the war.
2. Choose one war poem that you have not
studied in class, e.g. Wilfred Owen’s ‘Futility’.
Annotate the poem with ideas as to what it is
about and the different techniques the poet
has used to highlight feelings and thoughts
about war.

Geography Homework Project Year 7 – Weather and Climate
Each week you must complete the activity set. Each activity should be handed submitted on Google
Classroom or on paper to be put in your homework folder.
On some weeks you will have the option to choose between a standard task and a challenge task,
you may choose which you do but one must be completed.
Key terms:
Weather is the day to day condition of the atmosphere. Weather can change quickly - one day it can
be dry and sunny and the next day it may rain.
Climate describes average weather conditions over longer periods and over large areas.

Task 2: Walter the water molecule
There you are, sitting on the surface of the
Atlantic Ocean – and the next thing you
know…. Write a story or draw a strip cartoon
about a week in your life, where you get to
play a part in the weather! Perhaps you end
up in snow or fog, or in a hailstone? Or on an
umbrella?
Task 2: It’s the Sun
The Sun is the main driver of our weather. But
what is it? What goes on in the Sun? How far
away is it? Will it last forever? Do your
research, and present your findings in a very
exciting form.

Task 3: Brilliant Barometers
Find out how a barometer works, and
present your findings. You could do a
PowerPoint presentation, poster, write a
speech or a podcast.
Task 3: All about isobars
Hint! Isobars are to do with air pressure.
Download a weather chart showing isobars,
from the internet. Your job is to annotate it, to
help someone else understand about isobars
and what they show. So you will need to add
notes explaining:
What an isobar is
The kind of weather you get when
isobars are close together
What counts as low pressure
What counts as high pressure
What wind is, and which way it will
blow

Task 4: Build a rain gauge
Using the instructions below build your own rain gauge, you will need to collect your materials, build
your gauge and upload a picture of your rain gauge onto google classroom or bring a picture into
class.

Task 5: Record the weather
Over the next week use your rain gage to record the rainfall and temperature for each day. You
could either use a thermometer to measure the temperature or check online. Make sure you take
your readings at the same time each day. Record your findings in the table below.

Task 6: Display and describe your findings
Use your data to make a graph showing the temperature and rainfall of your week. Write a short
description of what your graph tells you about the weather (½ side A4). You should include the
average temperature for the week and average rainfall.
Check you have completed all the homework tasks and your project is ready to be handed in. Your
project should be presented creatively. This should be electronic or on paper. Marks will be awarded
for the creativity of your presentation.

Geography of My Place
Your homework task over the next term is to produce a either an A3 poster, or a PowerPoint
presentation (Minimum of 6 slides) about your favourite place this is to be handed in at the
end of the half term. Your place can be a town, city or country that you have either visited
or would like to visit and is entirely of your choosing but must be located on earth and be
real. You will need to use a range of presentation techniques tell us about your favourite
place. Where is it? Why is it your favourite place? Tell us about the human and physical
Geography of the area.
Each week there is a different task you need to complete in order to finish the project in
time. Try and be as creative and detailed as possible.
Week 1: Decide on the place you want to research. Write an explanation for why you chose
this place. This must be at least ½ a side of A4.

your chosen place; include maps and a description of its location and climate. For example,
what country is it in/ what other countries is it near? Is it in the Northern or Southern
Hemisphere? Longitude/ Latitude? Near to an ocean? Try and find a climate graph or make
one of your own.

Week 3: Do some research to find out about any Physical features of your chosen place. A
Physical feature is a natural feature such as landforms like mountains or volcanoes, bodies
of water like rivers and lakes or something that is unique about the landscape. Write about
these features; find pictures and maps to show their location.

Week 4: Do some research to find out about any Human features of your chosen place. A
Human feature is man made this could be a building, bridge, park or statue that is important
to the place. Write about these features; find pictures and maps to show their location. and

Week 5: Flora (plants) and Fauna (Animals) - Do some research about the Flora and Fauna of
your place. What type of plants and animals are there? How have they adapted to their
environment? Are any unique to your place?

Week 6: The people and culture of your place and finalize your poster or PowerPoint. Write
a description about the people of your place, think about traditions and religion and how
the people of your place live, what makes them special? Include pictures of traditional dress
or ceremonies. Check all of your PowerPoint or Poster - Make sure you have all the
information you need. Add pictures and extra details you may have left out. Ensure you are
ready to hand in.

Creating a Biography
Week 1: Choose a king or Queen you have been learning about in History. Write the first
page of your biography about why you chose that particular king or queen.

Week 2: Research how they became King or Queen and who was leader before and after
them. Write the second page of your biography on the information you find out about their
rise and fall.

Week 3: Research the changes, they made when they were in power. Write the third page
of your biography, about these changes, both the good and the bad.

Week 4: Research any wars and battles your ruler may have been involved in. Write the
forth page of your biography about these battles and their outcomes.

Week 5: Create a front cover for your book and write the final page about why you think
they were the most important ruler of their time.

History of My Place
You need to choose a town, city or even country and find out the History of that place. You
