January 7, 2018 - Wesley Covenant RenewalMelrose - Adam Shourds Greenwood - Wayne Hunter
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
SERMON NOTES
THREE ACTS OF WORSHIP TO BEGIN 2018
1. _______________________________________
Connects us to the truth.
Connects us to one another.
Connects us to healing.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
2. _______________________________________
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, … I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.
Philippians 1:27 (NIV)
3. _______________________________________
WESLEY COVENANT PRAYER
I am no longer my own, but yours. Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will; put me to doing, put me to suffering; let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you, exalted for you, or brought low for you; let me be full, let me be empty, let me have all things, let me have nothing: I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to your pleasure and disposal. And now, glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.
