(4 marks)Blackpool reached the stagnation stage just after World War 2. The introduction of the package holiday and cheaper air travel meant people could go the Mediterranean for less money. As a result visitor numbers to Blackpool dropped, and businesses started to close as they were becoming rundown due to a lack of interest. Blackpool did attempt to come out of the stagnation stage by building Blackpool Zoo.
