Background
● SQC focuses on solving the students' problems and most of them are psycho-social problems.
● Most of the tools and techniques used in SQC have been borrowed from industries which are meant for quantitative analysis.
![Page 3: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Background
● The quantitative tools require interpretation of data in terms of precise numbers.
● When it comes to psycho-social problems, such interpretation is complex.
![Page 4: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Psycho-social Problems
The problems caused by individual perceptions and social context could be
termed as psycho-social problems.
The statistical limitations of our tools do not allow enough space and proper
research on these problems.
![Page 5: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
To begin...
Being specific about some subjective tools we use, they seem to require some social-modification to foster proper research of the problem.
![Page 6: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
QC in Industries
![Page 7: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Types of problems
● Problems are clearly visible because the size of the products are not so varying.
● Most of them have a direct effect on the final product.
![Page 8: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Types of problems
● Rest of them generally affect the process.
● All of these parameters are clearly measurable and can be expressed with the help of the quantitative tools and techniques.
![Page 9: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Analysis and Solution of Problems
● The causes of the problems can be brought into Man, Machine, Method, Material(4M).
● All the above parameters are measurable.
![Page 10: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Analysis and Solution of Problems
● During the implementation, the change is visible and it is easy to implement and/or change strategies.
● The end result can give a clear image of the implementation process.
![Page 11: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
After the implementation...
● 4M can again give a clear picture of the success/flaws of the implementation process.
● The end result can be expressed numerically and can be compared with the initial situation accurately.
● Numbers give an easy, accurate basis for research and solution.
![Page 12: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
QC in Schools
![Page 13: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
SQC
● QC was a well-working concept in industries and is still equally effective.
● But when the same principle was put into schools, it worked but in cases of some problems, it was not possible to express the data in numbers precisely.
![Page 14: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
SQC
● The result-inclined problems and the problems of human context had a great gap in between.
● The 4M concept could not engulf all the causes of the psycho-social problems faced by students.
![Page 15: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
Similarities
● Some problems can be expressed numerically and can be analyzed through same tools and techniques.
● 4M maybe able to include the causes in case of such problems.
![Page 16: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Differences
● Most of the students' problems are psycho social.
● Some psycho-social problems that SQC has dealt with are Superiority/Inferiority Complex, Bullying, Lack of concentration, Love and Relationships, Cliquishness, etc.
![Page 17: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Differences
● While working with the above problems, numerical analysis was not easy and the use was very complicated. Still, there may be a need of numerical analysis at points.
![Page 18: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
Improvisations/Modifications
● Numerical analysis was used on a limited scale..● Different parameters were set during the use of
Ishikawa Diagram.● Qualitative data collection and analysis was put
on higher priority.● Numerical information was taken as a support
tool and not as the sole basis.
![Page 19: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)

Findings
● Psycho-social problems required abstract subjective analysis.
● Subjective tools such as brainstorming, fishbone and affinity diagram were more effective during research
● Human psychology plays an important role in problem solving process.
![Page 23: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/23.jpg)
What can industries learn from this?
Human psychology also plays a major role in the industrial problems so the factors discussed in this presentation should be put into consideration while solving problems.
![Page 24: Working With Psycho-Social Problems in QC](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052601/558a37ded8b42aa51d8b4597/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
People are inherently good and they want to do a good job.
People learn differently and hence think differently. Working on people's
learning processes rather than exhorting them would rather be
better.Ranking destroys people.

Last words....
We, as human beings need to learn to put human psychology into consideration while
solving problems.Only subjective research can make this
possible.By doing so, we can prevent the society
from becoming like an industry where the outcome means everything.
