We have finally reached the last week of school
for 2016. Last week was extremely busy with
our Presentation Day, Year 6 Farewell, two
Preschool Graduation concerts, Year 6
Orientation Day at Hunter Sports HS,
Volunteers Morning Tea and our Windale
Community Christmas Carnival on Friday to
finish everything off with a bang. Thank you
to everyone who supported the school at
these special events where we came
together and celebrated a year’s worth of
achievement and learning at Windale PS. I
was so very proud as Principal to see our
students, school and community coming
together as one for the benefit of our
students.
2017 is shaping up to be a fantastic year
with many more exciting announcements to
be made about how we are leading the way
in innovative learning and leadership at
Windale. I would like to take this
opportunity to wish all our families and
volunteers a very Merry Christmas and the
happiest of New Years. School will resume
on Monday 30th January for all our
Kindergarten to Year 6 students and our
Preschool resumes on Tuesday 31st January.

THINKING OF VOLUNTEERING IN 2017?
Parent Volunteers at Windale PS
Please note the only volunteers who need to provide a WWCC clearance to the Department are adult (18 years of age and over) volunteers who:
will work as part of a formal mentoring program, or
will provide intimate, personal care to children with a disability, or
is not a parent or close relative of a student at the school where the volunteer is working, but will have direct contact with children
We have copies of these forms at our office. We welcome and value our volunteers and are required by guidelines to ensure we are compliant. Please complete this form along with the required “100 points” documents to be sighted by a staff member, so we can welcome your contribution in our school. Along with this, if you are visiting to assist in school activities, we require you to sign in as a visitor at our office, before you go to the classroom to help. This again, is for safety requirements in the event that we need to evacuate or have an emergency of some sort. We must have an accurate record of all people on our site, at any given time.

Year 6 Farewell Last Wednesday night we held our Year 6
Farewell in the hall. The students all dressed
up and had a wonderful night celebrating
their primary school journey. A great night
was had by both the students and staff and we
wish all these wonderful students an easy and
successful transition to high school. A big
thanks to Miss Carter for all her organisation
in the lead up to the event and on the night
and to all those that lent a hand to make the
night such a success. Congratulations to Year
6 and Good Luck as you continue your school
journey into high school.

Year 2 Pelicans read the story of “Sunday
Chutney” by Aaron Blabey. Sunday Chutney
has lived everywhere and been everywhere
so they wrote a postcard from Sunday’s
perspective talking about one of the many
places she may have been in Australia. They
used books about Australia to research
different places you can visit or used
information from
their own experiences
to describe what she
had done or seen.
They also drew some
amazing portraits of
her.

Goanna are writing up a storm
Even though it’s the end of the
year. Goanna are still working hard
and would like to share some of their
writing with us. They have written
some fun poems, some diamante
poems and an information report on
Kangaroos.

The competitors
To Whom It May Concern,
We are in the Stage Three class, Barramundi and we have had a pretty awesome
year with lots of fun and exciting opportunities given to us. One of the high-
lights had to be Robotics day, we were lucky enough to spend an entire day
learning how to code, build bricks and make a Lego robot move in any direc-
tion we desired.
Camp was an experience that we won’t be forgetting anytime soon, the activities
allowed us to bond as a team and overcome our fears. Flying fox, Giant Swing’s
and Mud World were just a few of the awesome activities that we took part in.
One of the funniest things was the number of kids who cried in Mud World be-
cause they were cold.
We loved being creative with lots of fun and messy art lessons, we quickly learnt
that if you add a sprinkle of glitter to your work it will look fabulous.
We got our jive and groove on with Star Struck we danced to ACDC’s long way to
the top and danced our tail feathers off. We got to meet and hang out with kids
from other schools.
The Year Six Farewell was a night of glamour and sophistication with the hall
looking amazing and being given the opportunity to have dinner with our
classmates.
We end the year on a happy and sad note, we shall miss our friends who will be
going off to different schools but we are grateful for the opportunities that have
been given to us.
Yours Sincerely
Class Barramundi
Barramundi Bid Us Farewell For our final newsletter, 5/6 Barramundi have written us a letter sharing some of their highlights for the year and what they most enjoyed about their final year at Windale Public School.
We wish them and all our Year 6 students all the best for their future endeavours and while we will miss their smiling faces we hope they embrace this next phase o f their lives with open arms
