Environmental Degradation Water contamination Urban heat island Inefficient infrastructure Possibly climate change (from 100 drought
to 100 year floods in 3 years!) Beneficiaries not really benefitted Unsustainability More costs and expenditure than
benefits

Even the “most modern” types of contracts are out-dated as they leave out Integrated Solution Providers, as suppliers are dealt with as separate entities in relation to the contract.
In a modern wikinomic business model the Integrated Solution Provider should be an integral part of the contract, not only supplying material, but also knowhow, and as such it constitutes a very new way of doing business in the industry.

Mainly because the old model didn’t/doesn’t work. Advance of technology Traditional stakeholders don’t know how to exploit
technology to maximum effect Technology advances so quick and knowledge cycles
are ever shorter, companies can’t wait for the next generation of professionals to be senior engineers
It is more competitive and cost effective Provides direct support that is faster and more
dynamic
Why the Integrated Solution Provider? Why now?
environmentally-sustainable-design.blogspot.com © Felipe Kovacic 2011
Vested interests Government that needs/wants to sell water, other
services for revenue/income Government should focus on what is essential Privatisation is not necessary either, “Consumer
Owned Decentralized Solutions”, makes the country more competitive, hence more powerful
Intellectual Legacy Out-dated professionals, especially generation of
senior engineers, architects to a certain extent. Out-dated knowledge and out-dated fragmented
mindset. Change is difficult
Obstacles to Wikinomic Business Model

Water management models do not take into account appearance of modern geo-synthetics.
Horton, Overland Flow, etc… Runoff Coefficient – Inverse Compensated Runoff
Coefficient. Traditional model of Quantity vs. Quality
Water Knock on effects Air
Things described, as what they are not Anaerobic Digestion, Desalination, Sustainability,
etc…
