When writing your resume, remember to: Be truthful. State your abilities accurately. Target your audience. Highlight skills and activities relevant to
the job. Keep it brief. Limit your resume to one or two pages, and use
fewer words for scannability. Write and rewrite. Plan to write several versions of your resume
before it feels right. Be professional. Print your resume on high-grade paper using a
quality printer. Be accurate. Proofread your resume (and have a friend do the
same) for any errors. Follow up. Call or send a letter to the employer to restate your
interest in the position.
When you’re done:
Print a copy of your final draft. Save in multiple places. Email a copy to yourself.

A career objective can focus you and help you write a tight resume. Each statement in your resume should reflect your objective.
Write a summary statement to show why you are the ideal candidate for your desired job. The summary statement is a place to highlight your past accomplishments. Emphasize the professional characteristics that make you stand out.

Contact information tells the employer who you are and how to contact you for additional information.
Education background shows your academic achievements and fields of study.
Include information on any licenses or certifications to indicate your specialized expertise in a particular field.

Cover Letter Heading and greeting
Include the date, your name and your contact information. Address the letter to a specific name and/or title whenever possible.
Opening and introduction Explain who you are and your reason for writing, including how you found out about the position.
Body Sell yourself. Reveal why you are a perfect and unique match for the position. Explain why you have chosen the employer.
Assertive closing Politely take initiative toward further action and next contact.
Cover Letter
Be confident, positive, and focused Be concise, accurate, and polite Use short sentences. Keep the letter to one page. Proofread your letter thoroughly. Thank the reader for his or her time. Sign your cover letter — blue ink is best
to show the letter is an original.
