Tenby Secondary Ski Trip 2017 During the recent half term break I had the very enjoyable opportunity to join the annual Tenby ski trip along with my son who is in Year 6. This was his first ski trip and there were nerves as well as excitement in the weeks leading up to it. The student group this year ranged from Year 13 down to Year 6. The trip was led by Mr. Robinson and Mr. Moss who were extremely professional and diligent in ensuring safety at all times, whilst allowing the kids to fully enjoy themselves. We stayed in the beautiful lakeside town of Brienz, 90 minutes from Zurich. After a long flight via Doha on Qatar Airways, the arrival into the hotel was made very welcome. It is family owned and Tenby Schools were greeted like old friends. Then, after a well-deserved sleep, skiing started the next morning. The set up was very professional with good quality equipment (including helmets) for all. Our English instructors were well qualified and highly experienced. We were separated into appropriate level groups and hit the slopes. I was very impressed with the level of instruction and focus on safety and it was excellent to see our kids improve throughout the week. We were fortunate to have exceptional weather, with the first five days having clear blue skies and warm temperatures and the final day snowing heavily. So the kids had the best of both worlds - sun and snow! We were able to ski at three different locations during the week, all of which were within easy traveling distance of the hotel. This allowed the kids to progress onto different slopes as their skill levels increased. In summary I could not recommend this trip highly enough. Apart from the fun and responsible environment that Mr. Robinson and Mr. Moss created, what impressed me most were our Tenby kids. It was wonderful to see them supporting each other and really soaking up all of the experiences that going to Switzerland offered. It was a pleasure to be around them and to see how they so positively represented both themselves and the school. My son is already looking forward to next year and I hope that many other students can take up the opportunity of joining a truly first class ski trip.
