The Motivator . . . The Scoreboard!
Never let the difference between smilies and frownies be larger than 3 points. If you reward too much, your students will lose motivation. If you punish too much, they will quit trying.
Use the “Mighty Oh Yeah” when students earn a point. Students clap their hands and say OH YEAH! When giving yourself a point, students use the “Mighty Groan”. Students shrug their shoulders and make a groan sound.
Here is a huge point.
