Who should attend: Parents of students with special needs(Seating is very limited, so RSVP early)

This workshop will help you identify your child’s learning strengths and challenges aswell as organize your important information about your child so it will be helpful ineducational planning. Come and learn the seven phases of the special education processand identify the specific actions you may take during the special education process. You will become familiar with due process rights and learn ways to work as partners withteachers and other school personnel.

Presenter: Irene Moore

Irene is the Senior Information Specialist at PEATC and she has more than nine years of experience working with military families of children with disabilities. She hasknowledge of civil rights law for individuals with disabilities through participation in Wrightslaw Special Education and IDEA workshops. She is also a 2005 graduate of the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities’ Partners in Policymaking advocacy program. Irene is passionate about advocating for parents of children with disabilities. She is the proud mother of two middle school boys, David and Bryan.
