Chemical cleaning servicesExperience—the key to the cleaning process
Let our experts put our experience, knowledge and skills to work for you.
Our experienced and highly skilled cleaningspecialists determine the best solutions to meet
your needs and then perform the cleaning in a safe,
cost-effective manner.
Our in-house laboratory can analyze the deposits
in your system and then determine the best method
or removal.
Cleaning with chemicals requires a service provider
who understands the chemistry and critical
stages of the operation. Corrosion rates of metal
alloys differ depending on the metallurgy and type
of cleaning solutions used. Special problems, such
as corrosion caused during acid cleaning, can occur
during chemical cleaning that can seriously affect thesafety of equipment and personnel.
We have the expertise and training that can help
minimize the potential problems associated with
chemical cleaning through the use of specialized
corrosion inhibitors preventing attack on the
parent metal.
Chemical cleaning is a highly specialized service that
requires a thorough knowledge of chemistry, chemicals,
fouling deposits and the effects those deposits have
on your assets. It requires an experienced service
provider who can deliver results.
The cleaning processes use acids, alkalis, oxidizers
and solvents to clean plant equipment or reduce
the cleaning effort. The processes remove scales,
deposits and fouling accumulation from process
equipment during maintenance shutdowns. These
processes are also effective at removing rust, mill
scale and protective coatings from new equipment.
Weatherford’s Pipeline & Specialty Services group has more than 25 years of experience in industrial
chemical cleaning services—using best-in-class technology, people and equipment. We provide a full range
of services for all of your chemical processing needs, from single-ll methodology to a customized approach.

Fouling types vary from plant to plant and can vary over time.
The most common foulants fall into the following general categories:
• Hydrocarbons: oils, grease and bitumen
• Carbons: from soot-like to hard coke
• Polymers: from sticky liquids to dry solids
• Corrosion products: oxides or suldes of iron or copper
• Water scales: hardness and water-treatment products
• Organic matter: weeds, algae and bacterial slimes
• Mud and silt: entrained insolubles
Nearly all equipment has some form of fouling deposits. These accumulationscan cause loss of heat transfer, high-pressure drops and even total blockage.
FoulantsThe many faces of dirt, a multifaceted approach
Often, deposits are a mixture of two or more foulants
and might require a series of different solvents to
facilitate removal. Weatherford personnel determine
the best methods for removing deposits of all types.
With our in-house laboratory, we can determine the
best approach by analyzing the following:
• The chemical composition of the contaminant
• In-house trial removal tests to determine the
best trial solution for a complex contaminant
• Complex mixes of chemicals for best results

Single-ll chemical cleaningEconomical, effective, environmentally responsible
Weatherford’s single-ll chemical cleaning processes
are designed to minimize waste while effectively
removing deposits from your equipment.
Our single-ll methods reduce waste volume
and cleaning time compared to traditional multill
cleaning methods. This advantage minimizes
your downtime while reducing the environmental
impact—and the impact on your bottom line.
Weatherford understands that every process plant
is different, and a ready-made cleaning process
might not t your needs. That reality is why we
offer custom-designed processes for cleaning,
passivation and preservation of your plant.
We offer solutions that t your cleaning needs based
on plant conguration, system metallurgy, chemistryand time constraints. Our experts are here to help
