Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship
Valley Rovers had an excellent victory over Mallow on
Saturday in the Premier Intermediate Hurling
Championship on the score of 1-16 to 0-08. Valleys lead
from start to finish with an expertly taken goal from
Minor Eoin O’Reilly within a minute giving the Rovers
the ideal start. Mallow responded with a point, before
the ever dangerous Kevin Canty brought a superb
reaction save out of the Mallow custodian who
deflected the shot out for a 65. Chris O’Leary duly
slotted the 65 between the post. Mallow got another
point back before Valleys went on a scoring spree with
Kevin Canty, Richie Butler (2), Jeremy Hurley & Eoin
O'Reilly all scoring points. Mallow than traded a point a
piece with Eoin O'Reilly before dominating the last 10
minutes of the half scoring the next 4 points with Richie
Butler scoring a free on the stroke of Half time to leave
the score Valley Rovers 1-8 Mallow 0-7 at the short
whistle. Valleys started the second half brightly with
two Richie Butler frees inside a minute. The scoring
dried up after this with Sub Billy Crowley getting the
only score in the next 18 minutes. Two more Richie
Butler frees and a point each from Eoin O’Reilly and
Kevin Canty and Billy Crowley concluded the Rovers
scoring . Valleys did soak up some good Mallow
pressure including a late penalty that came off the post,
but the defence coped admirable with the challange on
the night. Valleys controlled this game for long periods
and finished the game with 5 minors having played,
which augers well for the future. Valleys are now
through to the quarter final where they play near
neighbours Newcestown. Team.

U21 B Hurling South East Final
Valley Rovers second U21 team took on Tracton’s first
team in the U21 B Hurling South East Final in Belgooly
last Thursday night. Despite having numerous subs
Tracton refused to play 15 a side and Valleys were
forced to take off two of the selected 15 and thus four
players were deprived the opportunity to play in a
South East Final as the game was played as 13 a side.
Tracton got off to the better start with the breeze
scoring the first three points of the game. Valleys
responded with a Cathal Dart O’Flynn point followed
by a Donal O’Brien free and a 65. Tracton scored the
next 3 points but the Rovers responded emphatically.
Firstly Donal O’Brien scored a free, then Johnny Kielly
soloed through the heart of the Tracton defence
before expertly finishing to the bottom corner of the
net. Two minutes later, following fantastic work from
Cathal Dart O’Flynn, whose right wing cross was
gathered and sent to the Tracton net for a goal of
quality by Johnny Kiely for Valleys and his second
Goal. Donal O’Brien added a free before halftime to
leave the score Valley Rovers 2-5 to Tracton 0-7.
Valleys resumed the second half like they ended the
first scoring two more Donal O’Brien free before
Tracton took over the scoring. Firstly they got a well
taken goal and followed that with three further points.
Goal Keeper Donnacha O’Driscoll scored a long range
free to put Valleys in front again on 49 minutes. And 2
points in 4 minutes put Tracton in front. Valleys
responded immediately with a Donal O’Brien free.
Antoher free put Tracton in front until Donal O’Brien
popped up on the 60th minute to equalise. Valleys had
a couple of chances in injury time to snatch the victory
but will be happy with a draw where these young men
showed tremendous heart and skill over the 60 odd
minutes. Final Score Valley Rovers 2-10 Tracton 1-13

U9 hurling
Our u9 hurlers travelled to Fermoy last Saturday for
the latest Rebel Og hurling blitz. We had a very good
turnout of 19 players and we were able to enter 2
teams. The teams we played were St Vincents, Brian
Dillons, Cobh & Erins Own. The lads played very well in
all their matches and in particular had very skillful and
competitive encounters with Cobh and Erins Own.
There was some excellent score taking and high
catching on display. It was also noticeable that the
players are improving their defensive skills in particular
hooking and blocking. We would particularly like to
thank Fermoy GAA club for being excellent hosts on
the day. Thanks also to the parents and supporters
who gave great encouragement to the Valley lads.
As always we urge the lads to keep practising at home
and attend training. More football and hurling blitzes
coming up over the next few weeks. The players who
played in the blitz were as follows:
Ben O Sullivan, Ciaran Hoey, Daniel Lynch, Dara
McCarthy, David Carthew, Declan Cronin, Emile
Moisy, Enda Manning, Enda Muldoon,
Eoin Guinane,Kevin Dart O'Flynn, Luke O'Sullivan,
