WHAT YOU’LL LEARN IN THE PROGRAM• Understand how to operate hand tools, power tools, & oxy-fuel cutting devices• Practice reading welding drawings, understanding welding symbols, & knowing the physical characteristics of different metal properties• Learn the difference between SMAW bead welds, SMAW fillet welds, GMAW groove weld, GMAW plate welds, & FCAW plate welds• Earn skill-based badges to prove your skills as a welder
WHAT YOU’LL GET AS A SCI GRAD• Practical skills and work habits to become an entry-level welder• Receive job placement assistance including building a resume, interview training, and help identify relevant positions in related fields• Access to create a virtual profile on our exclusive employment networking platform, SCI Connect
WELDING
Our Welding curriculum is designed for students to acquire skills & demonstrate competency in joining & cutting metal surfaces, arc welding, resistance welding, brazing & soldering. You’ll graduate our program in 27 weeks with the knowledge, hands-onskills and opportunities to acquire National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) module competencies and certificates in Core, Level 1 and Level 2 welding. Students will also learn the employer-desired skills to obtain a job as a welder.
YOU’LL BE SAYING “I GOT THE JOB”1,306 SCI GRADUATES DID IN 2016*
RELATED JOB TITLES: Commercial Welder, Industrial Welder, Small Business Welder
*Based on graduates from July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016 who were placed in their field or a related field across all programs in accordance with reporting guidelines for the Council on Occupational Education.
