• Study & Writing. Students should take S&W by the end of their sophomore year. • Summer courses. The Director of Undergraduate Studies may give permission for
students to take summer courses at BC or another 4-year college or university. Summer courses cannot take the place of upper-division electives.
• Study abroad. A maximum of 12 credits, and no more than 6 upper-division credits, may be earned abroad.
• Residency requirement. At least 18 of the required 30 credits (including S&W) must be taken at BC during the regular academic year.
• R&Rs. A maximum of 2 Readings & Research courses (HIST4901) may be substituted for upper-division electives.
• Cross-counting. A LAMA course that is also upper-division (4000-level) can be used to fulfill both the LAMA and upper-division requirements. However, the student will only receive 3 (not 6) credits for the course and will have to take another elective (2000- or 4000-level) to make up the credits.
