The events we celebrate this week are the very
center of the good news we are given to share
with the world. Today we remember Jesus’ Pas-
sion. We recall how he went from acclamation
by the crowds on Palm Sunday to betrayal and
death on Good Friday. The gospel story touches
on the extremes of human existence. God took
on human life in all its moments from birth, yes,
even to death. In doing so God shows us the
way to be human—not by escaping or trying to
deny our situation, but by embracing it.
Year after year we return to the events of this
week to be renewed. How does this story touch
our life this year? What does it say to our ill-
ness, to the discord in our family life, to the pre-
sent life of the church? What death is God dying
this year in our life, in our community, and in
our church? How does God raise us up from
that death? How is the story of Christ’s Pas-
sion, death, and resurrection being retold in the
details of our life today? If we can see how it is
unfolding in our life and community, we can re-
ceive the gospel that God is giving us to pro-
claim to our time and our culture. We retreat
into Holy Week to discover the mysterious way
in which God is touching lives today, so that like
the disciples at Easter we too may go forth re-
newed to proclaim good news.
buenas noticias.

Dear All, After much thought and prayer the decision has been made to postpone the 34th Annual Spring Fling scheduled for Tuesday, May 12th. Please know that our top priority is the health and safety of our entire community. Let us all continue to pray for God’s healing, strength, compassion, grace and comfort during this coronavirus pandemic. May God bless you and keep you safe and healthy. SUNDAY MASS OBLIGATION WAIVED: The obligation to attend Sunday Mass is lifted for all Catholics of the diocese until further notice. Please exercise prudential judgment in deciding whether to attend Mass. The dispensation from Mass does not remove the obligation to keep the Lord’s Day holy: seek to refrain from work, spend time in prayer individually and as a family, and extend charity to others. If you are unable to at-tend Mass, you are encouraged to make a spir-itual communion: An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacra-mentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Nunca permitas
que me separe de ti. Amén.
