Attendance
• Our day begins at 8:15 am and ends at 3:15 pm
• Students are considered tardy if they are not in class by 8:20 am
• Students are considered absent if they are not in class by 9:45 am

Homework Policy• Late homework is not accepted.• Students record daily homework
assignments in their Assignment Books/Homework Folder.
• Assignment Book/Homework Folder needs to be returned daily.
• Homework Criteria (per week):– E = 0 missing homework assignments– S = 1-2 missing homework assignments – N = 3-4 missing homework assignments – U = 5 + missing homework assignments
Homework
• Monday- Math/Science/Social Studies• Tuesday-Reading/Language Arts• Wednesday- Math/Science/Social Studies• Thursday-Reading/Language Arts• Friday- NONE!! (unless reading log is
incomplete)• Vocabulary tests and any other subject
tests will be announced the week of.
Social Skills
• Each week or two we have different social skills that we are working on. We also work on following the school rules.
• Be Polite• Be Positive• Be Productive• Be Respectful• Be Responsible
Rewards
• Students receive $5 every week for their paycheck. Money is given for a variety of reasons such as: hard work, good behavior, and many of the social skills that we are teaching.
• They can buy a variety of passes, fun activities every other Friday, and tangible rewards with their money.
Discipline
• Students are typically first given a warning and then asked to “pay” for their behavior.
– E = 0 for the week– S = 1-2 for the week– N = 3-4 for the week– U = 5 + for the week
Grading Period
• Four (4) 9-week grading periods (replaces the previous 6-week grading periods)
• Progress reports are sent home during the 4th week of each grading period
Grades lower than 70• If a student has made a grade below 70
on a minor grade, they have the opportunity to redo it and return it. The grade averages with their new grade to make their grade no higher than 70.
• If it is a major grade, the grade stays the SAME.
TAKS Testing
• Reading (1st administration) – March
• Math & Reading – April (Rdg.-2nd administration for those
who did not pass in March).• Reading (3rd admin.) - June
Tuesday Folders
• Please review your child’s Tuesday folder each week.
• This allows you to monitor the progress of his/her work habits, conduct, and academics.
