QUOTE OF THE WEEK! Habit 8
“Find your voice and inspire others to find theirs’
Dear Parents,
Congratulations to the P & C for their enthusiasm and organisation of our momentous Twilight Fair. The
P & C team, led by Anita Smith did an amazing job - something that could nearly be compared to the
precision and team work of a military exercise! It was just amazing to watch the months of hard work
and planning come together in frenetic activity, as the organisation for the Fair unfolded before us
during the day. A huge thank you to all the parents and community members who supported the
school by giving time and goods to the Fair and for our community for their participation.
I would like to thank the staff of Kororo and their families for their contributions to the Fair - in
organising a class stall or event, in the distribution of information and news, in sorting through endless
mountains of donations on the verandah each morning and the myriad of other ways they have all given
of time and energy.
I am sure everyone had a fabulous afternoon and evening exploring the treasures and highlights of a
Kororo Twilight Fair! When we talk about what makes our school so unique
- this has to be up there!
Sue Mackay
Principal

FROM THE OFFICE - PRESENTATION DAY
This year’s Presentation Day will be held on Tuesday,
10th December.
At this time of the year we are asking for sponsors from various
businesses in Coffs Harbour to make a donation which helps with
the cost of the awards for the students.
If you have a business or you would just like to donate as a
family, please let us know at the school office so that we can
include you on our list of sponsors. At this point we have our
special award sponsors but we do need other donations for the
class awards.
The name of your business will be acknowledged on the back
of the Presentation Day Program.
The School Prayer
As a result of parent and community feedback, the
school prayer is to be retained. Prior to
reinstatement of the prayer I am seeking opinions
from the parent body as to the occasions at which
the school prayer will be used. Traditionally the
school prayer has been said at class item student
assemblies (typically once a fortnight), Student
Representative Council assemblies (typically once
a term) and the annual Presentation Day
ceremony.
After consultation, the staff at the school feel that
it is appropriate for the prayer to be used at class
item student assemblies (typically once a
fortnight) and Student Representative Council
assemblies (typically once a term). I strongly
believe that the decisions being made around this
topic must be influenced by the statement from
the DEC Policy:-
“The Principal is responsible for responding sensi-
tively to the beliefs of parents/caregivers and their
children and for taking all steps to minimise feelings
of discomfort or embarrassment on the part of
students”.
The survey distributed in this week’s newsletter
provides the opportunity for parents to comment
on what occasions they consider it appropriate for
the prayer to be used. This survey is intended
only for families of students currently attending
our school and must identify the family name of
the respondent. The survey is not a poll. Surveys
need to be returned to the school by Friday 15th
November. Many thanks for your consideration
and opinions.
Leader in Me:
This week will be the last week for Peer Support for our students. The last two
terms have seen our student take the seven
habits journey under the amazing guidance and direction of our student leaders. The 8th Habit
embodies the essence of a fulfilling life and all the
habits combined. To find your voice means
to engage in work and a
life that genuinely taps
your talents and fuels
your passion. To find
your voice means to take the path to
greatness rather than settling for
mediocrity. Once you’ve found your own
voice, the way you can continue to increase
your feelings of achievement is by helping
others to find their own unique voices as
well.
