WHAT ARE WE S EEKING?
Our seeking has brought us here. We areseeking spiritual truth. Each of us can take the
next step in our evolution through our own
will and desire. We all are searching for
meaning in life. Our search ends when we
connect with the whole.
WHAT IS SAHAJA YOGA?
Sahaja Yoga is the experience of Self Realization.
It is a dynamic, living process of evolution.
The essential state is inner peace and silence,
from where we start to know our true selves. If
we have imbalances or problems in our life,
Sahaja Yoga teaches simple techniques to
achieve balance. Realization is a spontaneous
process. It is our birthright so it is available to
all free of charge.
The Kundalini is the power of our pure
desire within us. It is located in the sacrum
bone. When it rises, we achieve the state ofSelf-Realization.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF SAHAJA YOGA
Self Realization en masse is now possible
through Mrs. Nirmala Srivastava, who we call
Shri Mataji (Mother). She began Sahaja Yoga
in India in 1970. When her husbands appoint-
ment to a U.N. position required her to move
to England in 1973, she began teaching Sahaja
Yoga to the seekers in London. Shri Matajilearned how the seekers of the West damaged
themselves through drugs and self-destructive
lifestyles. Through her motherly kindness and
persistence, and by daily meditation, the
seekers became balanced, and were able to find
jobs, start families, and settle into a lifestyle of
joy and satisfaction.
Shri Mataji was born in India in 1923. As
befits the founder of a worldwide movement of
personal and social transformation, in person
she has tremendous gravity and wisdom, whileenchanting all who meet her with her
generosity and sense of humor.
Sahaja Yoga sparks a spiritual awakening
the unionwhich really is the root of our
existence and well-being, explains Shri Mataji.
According to Shri Mataji, Sahaja Yoga
integrates the ancient knowledge of balance
and enlightenment with todays practical
realities. Her technique has benefitted so many,
it is no surprise that she is honored around the
world and has been nominated for the Nobel
Peace Prize.
THE EXPERIENCE
Self-Realization is a soothing, relaxing state.
Our mind becomes quiet and we start to
experience things as they are, without the
filtering of our busy, analytical mind.
For most of us, when the kundalini piercesthrough the top of our head we will feel a soft,
cool breeze above our head and a cool wind
flowing in the palms of our hands.
Once the kundalini is awakened, we need to
learn how to nurture the seed that has
sprouted.
Through daily meditation, our awareness of
ourselves will become more subtle. We will be
able to detect which of our subtle centers is out
of balance, and how to remove the stress andblockages in our being.
After a few months, we can fully master all
the techniques of Sahaja Yoga. No-one needs
to lecture, advise or dominate us: we become
our own guru.
It is a living process to become established in
Sahaja Yoga and learn the teachings of
Shri Mataji. This course has been designed to
facilitate this process.
