Tuesday March 24 Go back to where you met HimSoulFood Reading: Job 15-17, Matt 25:1-13, Ps 55:12-23, Pr 8:19-21
“simoN peter said to them, ‘i am goiNg fishiNg.’” JohN 21:3 NKJVWhen Peter decided to go fishing that night, he may have been making a decision to get
away from everything and go back to where he first met the Lord. That’s a good move! When you get discouraged you’ll either go back to the One who can save, keep and satisfy, or you’ll go back to whatever was going on in your life before you met Him. That’s not a good move! Peter fished all that night and caught nothing. There’s a lesson there for you.
God said to the church in Revelation: “You have persevered…and have laboured for My name’s sake and…not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works” (Rev 2:3-5 NKJV). Has your love for God grown cold? If so, you need to go back to where you first met Him, to seek Him again like you did before you’d heard so much and seen so much, before the pressures of life had worn you down. “But I’m busy doing the work of the Lord,” you say. Busyness and barrenness go hand in hand together. It’s possible to look like a saint in the courts of Babylon, yet be a backslider in the courts of Zion.
Three times Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love Me?” Finally Peter said, “Lord, You know all things; You know [the extent to which] I love You” (John 21:17 NKJV). Oswald Chambers said, “Beware of anything that competes with your loyalty to Jesus Christ. The greatest competitor of devotion to Jesus is service to Him.” Think about it.
Wednesday March 25 Cutting off earsSoulFood Reading: Job 18-20, Matt 25:14-30, Ps 38:1-12, Pr 8:22-23
“Keep Your toNgue from eVil.” psalm 34:13 NiVWhen Jesus was betrayed by Judas He just stood there, even though He could have called
12 legions of angels to His defence. Then the mob came, laid hands on Him and arrested Him. Peter, ready to defend Jesus, drew his sword and cut off the High Priest’s servant’s ear. Impulsive, quick-on-the-draw Peter was thinking, “We don’t have to take this!” But Jesus said, “No, that’s not how you handle things!” Then, “He touched the man’s ear and healed him” (Luke 22:51 NIV). Peter was talking when he needed to be listening, and doing things when he didn’t need to be doing them. He needed to learn how to wait on God, to exercise humility and discernment. God had great plans for Peter, but if he wanted to reach people for Christ he couldn’t do it by taking out his sword and chopping off ears when he felt angry. There’s a lesson here.
Our abrasive words can cut off people’s ability to hear. We can’t just fly off the handle whenever we feel like it. We must be sensitive to God: If He tells us, “Say nothing,” we must stand there quietly, even if it means letting someone think they’re right even when we know they’re not. We must say, “Yes, Lord,” and accept that He doesn’t owe us an explanation.
How many times do we prevent somebody’s Spiritual growth, or God’s blessings from coming into our own lives, because we don’t control what we say? Perhaps you think that compared to adultery or stealing this is no big deal? Think again: “He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin” (Pr 13:3 NIV).
It’s people like you who make the difference.
“Ordinary people are making a huge difference to people all across Australia through
their faithful giving”

Thursday March 26 God’s got you covered!SoulFood Reading: Job 21-23, Matt 25:31-46, Ps 38:13-22, Pr 8:24-26
“i will giVe it iNto Your haNd.” Joshua 8:18 NKJVBefore going into battle God said to Joshua: “Stretch out the spear that is in your hand
toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand” (Josh 8:18 NKJV). It’s amazing how courageous you become when you know God’s got you covered. When you know He’s behind you, you can say, “No weapon formed against me will prevail” (See Isa 54:17). Remember as a child how secure you felt in a fight knowing your big brother or sister was behind you? Well, God is backing you up!
The problem is, we say all sorts of things without first checking to find out if God’s behind us. When Satan says, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” (Acts 19:15 NKJV), you must know two things: (a) That you are in right standing with God. (b) That it’s His fight as well as yours. Jesus said, “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven” (Matt 18:18 NIV). There must be agreement in both realms. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” (Matt 6:10 NIV), because if it’s not approved where He is, it’s not approved where you are either. Your confidence comes from knowing you’re operating according to God’s will.
The Bible calls us “God’s fellow workers” (1 Cor 3:9 NKJV), so don’t go off and do your own thing. Don’t try moving anything the Lord doesn’t want moved, or starting anything He doesn’t want started. We do on earth only what we know He’s declared to be His will in Heaven. That way we know we’re covered.
Friday March 27 What will your legacy be?SoulFood Reading: Job 24-28, Matt 26:1-13, Ps 69:1-18, Pr 8:27-29
“he did what was right.” 2 KiNgs 22:2 NiVJosiah’s grandfather, Manasseh, was a violent king who filled “Jerusalem from one end to
the other with [the people’s] blood” (2 Ki 21:16 NLT). His father, King Amon, died at the hands of his own officers. “He did what God said was wrong,” reads his epitaph. Josiah was only eight when he ascended the throne. Immediately he chose righteousness, and didn’t stop doing what was right all his life (See 2 Ki 22:2). What’s the point? We can’t pick our parents, but we can pick our role-models.
When Josiah was rebuilding the temple he discovered a scroll containing God’s law. As he read it he wept, realising his people had drifted far from God. So he sent word to a prophetess and asked, “What will become of our people?” She told Josiah that since he had repented when he heard God’s Word, his nation would be spared (See 2 Chron 34:14-27). Wow! An entire generation received grace because of the integrity of one man.
So, you can rise above your past and make a difference. Your parents may have given you your DNA, but God can give you a new birth and a new beginning. “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children” (Eph 5:1 NIV). Just like Josiah, you cannot control the way your forefathers responded to God, but you can control the way you respond to Him. Your past does not have to be your prison; you have a say in your life, you have a voice in your destiny, you have a choice in the path you take. Choose well and some day – generations from now – others will thank God for the legacy you left.

The Government has also replaced the previous pension bonus scheme, which was available to those who continued working past the pension eligibility age. (It will continue to apply to those already participating in the scheme). A new and much simpler scheme has been introduced under which only part of your employment income will be counted when working out your eligibility for the age pension. This will encourage people to continue working after reaching the eligibility age for the age pension.
Pension tax agreement between Australia and New Zealand
A new Double Tax Agreement between the Australian and New Zealand Governments is now in force. The agreement contains a section on pensions that will assist the movement of retirees between Australia and New Zealand.
Under the new treaty, pensions arising in the other country will not be taxed in the country of residence to the extent that they are not taxed in the source country. For example:
1. For a New Zealand resident receiving a pension from an Australian superannuation fund (other than an untaxed element of a pension paid from a Government sector fund):
If the person is over age 60: The pension would not be taxed if the pensioner was in Australia so it will no longer be taxed in New Zealand;•
If the person is under age 60: The pension would generally be taxed if the pensioner was in Australia so it will be subject to New Zealand • tax.
2. An Australian resident receiving a pension from a New Zealand pension fund will no longer be subject to Australian tax, as pensions from New Zealand funds are not taxed if paid to a person in New Zealand.
Note that the above changes only relate to pensions. Lump sums will continue to be taxed solely in the country where the benefit originates. However, lump sums paid from an Australian scheme are generally not subject to tax (from age 60) and there is generally no tax on lump sums paid from New Zealand schemes on cessation of employment.
The new treaty does not affect the taxation of Australian Centrelink pensions or New Zealand age pensions (paid by NZ Superannuation).
Cooper ReviewThe Super System Review, being led by Jeremy Cooper, is examining the governance, efficiency, structure and operation of Australia's superannuation system. The Review has released a number of preliminary reports which have essentially focused on ways of reducing costs, simplifying super for members and maximising retirement incomes for Australians.
The Review Panel’s final report is due at the end of June 2010 . The Government will then decide whether it will implement any of the Panel’s

Please note that the investment objectives are not a forecast or guarantee of future performance. This information is a guide only, and is not intended to provide personal financial advice. Past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future performance. If you have questions about the investment options offered, you can call our helpline or your financial adviser.
You control how your super is investedInvestment choiceThe overall investment strategy is to provide you with a range of investment options that can allow you to tailor your super to your needs. This doesn’t require hundreds of confusing choices. Cuesuper has four distinct investment options which aim to suit most people’s needs. Because you can mix and match between options, you can also create your own personal strategy by combining the options to suit you (see table). Each investment option (except Cash) is diversified across various asset sectors and a number of professional investment managers are used within each asset sector. This generally leads to more consistent returns and reduces risk. The trustee receives professional advice on the selection and ongoing evaluation of investment managers. A table on page 19 shows the managers used.

You can choose an option that suits you.
If you don’t make a choice, your contributions and any rollovers will be automatically invested in the (default) Growth option.

Fees & other costsCuesuper operates for the financial benefit of its members. This means the trustee negotiates with service providers to ensure fees to members
are kept as low as possible and there are no fees or commissions paid to financial advisers. Furthermore all profits are reinvested in the fund with
the primary objective of enhancing the benefits to our members over time. Fees are applied equitably to all members. The trustee changed the
fee structure effective 1 September 2009. Since there have been major changes in the superannuation industry which have substantially increased
the costs of operating a multi-employer industry fund like Cuesuper. Please refer to the current Product Disclosure Statement for details. Under
Australian law, the trustee is required to include the following warning about fees and costs.
Consumer Advisory WarningSmall differences in both investment performance and fees and costs can have a substantial impact on your long term returns. For example,
total annual fees and costs of 2% of your fund balance rather than 1% could reduce your final return by up to 20% over a 30 year period
(for example, reduce it from $100,000 to $80,000). You should consider whether features such as superior investment performance or the
provision of better member services justify higher fees and costs. You may be able to negotiate to pay lower contribution fees and management
costs where applicable. Ask the fund or your financial adviser.
To find out moreIf you would like to find out more, or see the impact of the fees based on your own circumstances, the Australian Securities and Investments
Commission (ASIC) website (fido.asic.gov.au) has a superannuation fee calculator to help you check out different fee options.
Note: this is a Government-prescribed Consumer Advisory Warning. The statement ‘you may be able to negotiate to pay lower contributions
fees and management costs where applicable’ does not apply to Cuesuper, as Cuesuper’s fees and costs cannot be varied.
This section shows the fees and other costs that applied from 1 September 2009 (but refer to page 22 if you are a defined benefit member). Taxes
and insurance costs are described briefly on page 17.

Example of annual fees and costs for the Growth investment option This table gives an example of how the fees and costs in the Growth investment option can affect your superannuation investment over a 1 year
period. You should use this table to compare Cuesuper with other superannuation products.
EXAMPLE: Growth investment option Balance of $50,000 with total contributions of $5,000 during the year
Contribution fees Nil For every $5,000 you put in, you will be charged nil.
PLUS Management costs
1.050% + $96 ($8 per month)
And, for every $50,000 you have in the fund you will be charged $525 each year plus $96 in administration fees regardless of your balance.
EQUALS Cost of fund

What it costs you will depend on the investment option you choose.
* Additional fees may apply. If you leave the fund, you will also be charged a withdrawal fee. [The Management costs which apply to the other investment options available are set out in the Fees and other costs table on page 16.]

This fee is included in the insurance premiums deducted from your account.
Performance fees
Several of Cuesuper’s managers are eligible for a performance based fee if their return exceeds a target return over the year. The extent of any
performance based fees cannot be determined in advance. The amount of performance based fees is calculated according to the amount of out-
performance by the investment manager and the weighting of that investment manager in the relevant investment option.
GST
Fees and cost shown in the Fees section include GST and stamp duty if applicable.
Member protection
If your super account balance is less than $1000, any explicit fees (such as the $78 pa management fee or the $110 withdrawal fee) charged to your
account will generally be limited to no more than the investment return on your account balance.
Fee increases
The trustee has the right to increase fees at any time. Reasons might include changes in economic conditions or government regulations, increases
charged by suppliers or a substantial reduction in the size of the fund. You will receive at least 30 days notice of any increase in fees.
Income tax
Tax is payable on concessional contributions and some rollovers when received by the fund at a rate of 15%. Cuesuper receives a tax deduction for
its cost of operation. This is passed back to members by only applying the 15% tax to contributions net of fees and insurance costs deducted. Tax
is payable on investment earnings of the fund at a maximum rate of 15%. However, as the fund is allowed a tax deduction in respect of certain fees
and costs, the rate of tax actually payable by the fund may be less than 15%. The benefit of any income tax deductions is passed on to members
indirectly when the trustee determines the rate at which earnings are applied to members’ accounts

Movember at MacquarieGeneral Manager, Matt Bow, and staff members John and Ben grew mo’s for the month of November to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues. During Movember (the month formally known as November) these men brought the Mo back to Dubbo.
The Movember event raised awareness and funds for men’s health issues including prostate cancer and depression.
Since its inception as a formal charity in 2004, Movember has raised over $30 million globally, significantly raised awareness of men’s health issues in the community and is continuously working to change the attitude men have about their health.
Matt, John and Ben raised a total of $1,136.75. Thank you to all who made donations, it was much appreciated.
Country Energy Health Field DaysEarlier this year Country Energy held a series of Health Field Days for their employees. These days were a great way for Country Energy Employees to learn different ways to improve their health and well-being and participate in a range of activities including fitness tests, blood donations and stress and mental health tests.
We attended several of these great events offering financial fitness tests to members and non-members alike. We had a great time travelling around the country side, meeting new members, putting faces to the names of our existing members and demonstrating the benefits of being a Macquarie Credit Union member.

Thank you to MembersI would like to thank all members for their continued support and feedback during the year which has contributed to the on-going success of Macquarie Credit Union. Our members own our Credit Union, and can be proud that they are part owners of a successful financial institution. With their tremendous support the Credit Union can continue to prosper and provide additional benefits to its members.
Member ServiceYour Credit Union is well served by a great team of professional dedicated staff. We are commited to ensuring that each time you use the services of Macquarie Credit Union, whether by walking into the branch, calling us on the telephone, using the internet or writing us a letter or email, you are treated with the high standard of personalised service that you appreciate and respect.
Your Credit Union also has an ongoing commitment to providing staff with the necessary training to ensure excellence in member services. With this commitment in mind, nine staff this year embarked on a two year training programme to expand their member services knowledge and attain the Certificate IV in Financial Services.
I would like to thank all the staff for their continued efforts and passion to uphold the Credit Union’s values and their focus on member care.
Products and ServicesYour Credit Union strives to provide high value products and services. During the year we achieved several awards for our products, showing that we do indeed provide high value products that compete favourably with those offered by other financial institutions.
Our Visa Credit Card won Silver in Money Magazine’s Best of the Best for the cheapest balance transfer credit card (minimum repayments).
We also received two Cannex 5 star ratings, the highest possible, for our Money Market account and our New Car Loan. Cannex 5 star ratings are awarded to products offering superior value to customers.
One of our key strategies is to continue to provide financial services that are competitive and attractive in the market place, including a range of new products and services. The recent introduction of the Power Home Loan, with a lower priced
introductory interest rate is more than one percent below the standard variable rates of the banks.
Helping the EnvironmentYour Credit Union is constantly looking at ways to reduce the use of paper and help the environment. We offer a range of online services through our website including internet banking, online applications and account switching. We now offer members the choice of having their account statements delivered via email or by post.
FEE FREEDOMAs always the Credit Union has enabled members to conduct their day-to-day banking with minimal transaction fees and in many cases with no fees. In fact, 82% of more than 5000 member accounts held at Macquarie Credit Union are operated without being charged any monthly account fees at all.
Macquarie Credit Union has a policy of rewarding members for their loyalty to the Credit Union and only charging for excess transactions. We also don’t, unlike other financial institutions, recoup 100% of third party service fees and charges, including non-rediteller ATM’s, EFTPOS charges and cheques. In fact, we only recoup 37% of these service fees and charges.
You too can break free from fees by;
Consolidating your banking,•
Using fee-free services as much as possible,•
Reducing the number of withdrawals you make,•
Taking cash out when using EFTPOS,•
Keeping track of your account balances, and•
Saving time and money by banking online and over •the telephone.
On behalf of the management and staff I would like to thank all members for their continuing support of the Credit Union.
