MORNING Quantum Global
Good Morning & Welcome to Tuesday's trading action at Dalal
Street, dated 6th August 2019.
1.Overnight, Wall Street slumps. Blame it to the Chinese yuan which
breached the key 7-per-dollar level for the first time in more than a
decade. The escalation of the U.S.-China trade war puts Dalal Street in a
place where it's almost impossible to ascertain the downside risk.
That brings us to our call of the day which suggests that caution
should be the buzzword until there are signs of a de-escalation.
2.The Indian Rupee too dropped the most in six years as Kashmir adds to
yuan woes. The Indian Rupee crashed to ₹1.13 to 70.73 versus US
dollar.
3.Sentiments were also down after investors expressed disappointment
over Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s description of the latest
rate cut as a “mid-cycle adjustment,”. Well, this indicates that the U.S
central bank might not be as aggressive as expected when it comes to
future rate cuts.
4.The Centre on Monday scrapped Article 370 of the Constitution
that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, with an order saying
“it shall come into force at once". The abrogation follows the Centre
introducing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill in Parliament.
5.The government on Monday said it will soon hold discussions with
representatives of foreign portfolio investors, amid continuing overseas
fund outflow from the markets following the decision to impose
surcharge on certain class of such investors. (Well, this is a positive
news for our stock markets).
Please note, the street is facing severe negativity and blame the same to FIIs
camp who have been in exiting mode in Indian stock markets, selling close to
Rs 16,870 crore worth of equities in July alone. That was the largest monthly
outflow since October 2018. In the first three trading days of August,
FIIs have sold shares worth Rs. 5961.34 cr.
Well, things could improve only if there are bigger rate cuts by RBI. The street
expects a 25 basis points rate cut. But we suspect, the trigger on the buy side
only if the RBI cuts interest rates by at least 50 bps to boost consumption
demand in the decelerating economy.
Low inflation and subdued consumption demand are key positive catalysts in
favors of rate cuts. India's inflation has remained below the central bank's
medium-term target of 4% for almost a year.
Amidst these catalysts, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is expected to cut

Technical Strategyinterest rates for the fourth time in a row at its meeting on 7 August. The RBI
did cut policy rates for the 3rd consecutive time in June by a cumulative 75
basis points.
In early action, SGX Nifty is seen tumbling as the market wrestles with the
impact of new tariffs on China. The 10% levies will apply to $300 billion of
U.S. imports from China. The next round of trade talks between the two
countries will resume only in September.
Donald Trump is the center of attraction as China is in the cross-hairs again —
putting investors in a panic mode.
Negativity will continue to be the hallmark of today's trade amidst weak
technical landscape. Nifty is trading well below its 200DMA at 11139 mark.
The next key support is at 10751 zone.
It going from bad to worse for the beleaguered Dalal Street.

STOCKS TO WATCH:
• Our chart of the day suggests establishing short positions in stocks
like BALKRISHNA INDUSTRIES, SUN TV and YES BANK with interweek
perspective.
Outlook for Tuesday: Dalal Street is again
swooned in Tuesday’ trade.
Technically, CIPLA's stock price pattern appears
ugly at current levels.
Overbought conditions prevail on weekly &
monthly charts. The near term momentum
oscillators are in sell mode signaling further sharp
down move.
The stock price is signaling a break down from a
probable higher consolidation zone on daily
charts with a probable resistance at psychological
550 mark. The stock is witnessing selling
pressure after consolidating between 505-560
zone for past 7-months. Major weakness on cards
below intermediate 483.75 levels.
Also the recent sequence of lower highs / lows is
intact in the daily and intraday charts with a
probable Double Top pattern on the monthly
charts, indicating further weakness.
Reverse divergences on weekly and monthly
charts along with weakening momentum likely to
work as negative catalyst for the stock. The stock
is likely to be a underperformer going forward.
The 200-DMA of the stock is placed at 543 zone
and this level shall act as strong resistance.
Establishing short positions at CMP, targeting
483 and then at 451. Stop above 571.

IPO Note:
• Microfinance lender Spandana Sphoorty Financial launched its Rs 1,200-crore IPO on August 5 in a
price band of Rs 853-856 per share.
The offer, which will close on August 7, consists of a fresh issue of up to Rs 400 crore and an offer for sale of up to
93,56,725 equity shares. Company already raised Rs 360.28 crore from 18 anchor investors.
Sterling and Wilson Solar (SWSL), the end-to-end solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solutions
provider, will hit the capital market with its Rs 3,125-crore public offer on August 6. It has fixed a price band at Rs 775-
780 per share for the issue which will close on August 8.
FII/DII & OPTIONS DATA:
• As per Monday’s Provisional Data available on the NSE, FII’s sold shares worth Rs. 2016.73 crores in the Indian Equity
Market. DIIs on the other hand, bought shares worth Rs. 1871.27 crores in the Indian Equity market.
• Derivative data suggests that Maximum Call open interest is at 11,500, which will act as a crucial resistance level in
August series. This was followed by 11,700 strike. Maximum Put open interest was seen at 11,000 followed by 11,200.
GLOBAL CUES:
• In Friday's trade too, the US Stock markets felt the heat of further escalation of trade war with China as Trump
announced new round of tariffs on Chinese imports. The losses in the stock market came even as the Labor Department
announced a solid pace of hiring in July.
ECONOMIC CUES:
• The policy-setting Federal Open Market Committee cut its benchmark interest rate by a quarter-point and most
importantly, ended its “quantitative tightening” program two months early. The Fed said it was easing monetary policy
“in light of the implications of global developments for the economic outlook and well as muted inflation pressures.”.
The governors voted 8-2 in favor of the move. This was the first rate cut by the Fed, since late 2008.
Denting optimism was the sense that the Fed seemed to step back a bit from promising a rate cut in September.
One Stop Investment Avenue www.quantumglobal.in
MORNING Quantum Global
• We suspect, the Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) will also cut its benchmark repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% at the
August 7 meeting. The two catalysts' working in favor of rate cut by RBI are: low growth and weak inflation.
• US GDP growth in Q2CY19 was 2.1%t, higher than street estimates but there was some clear impact of tariffs and trade
friction.
• The Asian Development Bank lowered growth forecast for India from 7.2% YoY to 7.0% for FY20, due to moderation in
growth prospects for the advanced economies which could adversely affect tradable services.
COMMODITY NEWS:
• In Friday's trade, Crude-oil prices traded with caution after the prices were unable to cross the major hurdle at $58.50
mark. Buying advised only above $58.50 mark.
Not a pretty picture.
• Preferred trade on Nifty (10863): Sell between 11001-11101 zone. Targets at 10751/10001. Stop 11289.
• Preferred trade on Bank Nifty (27648): Sell between 27951-28101 zone. Targets at 26717/24770. Stop 28737.
