CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF CARE BYComfort KeepersIn the ten years since first
caring for Ken, his health has
continually changed. Comfort
Keepers told Ken they had the
perfect caregiver for him and thathas proven to be just the case.
Ken says Rita has seen him
through a lot over the years,
including a knee replacement and
other health issues. He was not
expected to live through the night
when an infection went to his
heart. Caregiver Rita has stuck by
him through it all.
Ken says one of their favoritethings to do was to go out to
lunch. Now that he is home
bound, Rita will go out and pick
food up from their favorite
restaurant so they can share a
meal together.
Ken laughs and says he and
Rita have been together for 10
years, and there are a lot ofmarriages that dont last 10 years.

Skylight Music Theatre has announced asurplus for the recently completed fiscal year.
"The 2012-2013 season exceeded allexpectations, particularly at the box office, and resulted in a small operating surplus,"reported Skylight Managing Director, AmyJensen. "We are pleased to report that weincreased revenues by 14% over the prioryear while holding our expenses to a nominal2% increase."
Record breaking ticket sales provided thedriving force behind the season's success.Ticket sales, which exceeded expectations by31%, topped $1.5 millionthe highest inSkylight's 54-year history.
One key factor contributing to Skylight'ssuccess at the box office was the roll out of a
new strategic plan in June 2012 which includ-ed new initiatives to increase group sales andexpand Skylight's audience. In addition, exceptionally high critical acclaim and word-of-mouth for productions throughout the sea-son contributed to an unprecedented numberof sold out performances. Skylight's produc-tion of The Sound of Music accounted for thegreatest number of capacity performancesand became the company's highest grossingproduction ever.
The 2012-2013 season was a transitionyear for the Skylight. It was the ninth and finalyear for outgoing artistic director, Bill Theisen.Mr. Theisen is currently the Director of Operaat the University of Iowa. In September 2012,Skylight announced his successor, ViswaSubbaraman, former artistic director and
founder of Opera Vista in Houston. Mr.Subbaraman joined Skylight in June 2013 andrecently received critical acclaim for hisBollywood version of Beethoven's Fideliowhich opened Skylight's 2013-2014 seasonand was Subbaraman's first production withthe company.
Skylight Music Theatre held its annualmeeting on Sept. 26, at which it announcedthe above information as well as it's newlyelected officers to the board of directors; JohnFlanagan (President), Michael Bula(Secretary), Michael Lueder (Treasurer).

By Sam EricksonA dependable car is easy to forget about. If
you drive every day, it can be easy to stop think-ing about the car as a complex mechanicaldevice and to think of it more like a television-atool you use when you need it. With winterweather approaching, it's really time to startthinking about safety and preparing for thechange in the seasons. There are a lot of moving
parts to check on a car, but, without good tires, the safety of a car might be seriously compro-mised. There are just a few simple steps to take toensure you've got quality tires for the inclementweather approaching.
First, check the tire pressure. A monthly checkis best, but when it's cold outside, you'll want tocheck the pressure more often. Fill your tires tothe recommended level, which should be visibleon the tire or on the inside of the driver's door, thenext time you are at the gas station. Keeping tiresat their recommended pressure keeps them work-ing at maximal efficiency and improves gasmileage.
Many people have heard of tire rotation butdon't actually know what it is. Most experts rec-ommend that tires should be rotated every 5,000to 8,000 miles. This rotation is important becauseit evens out the wear on your tires. Based on yourdriving habits, where you drive, what the roadsare like and many other factors, some tires can
wear more than others. Tire rotation will ensurethat the tires wear evenly and you won't have toreplace one before the others. All you will haveto do is move the wheels from one position on thecar to another to keep them in good shape.
Tread is probably your next step. Visuallyinspect your tires and the tread. If you can see thebars that run across the tires, it is definitely time tohave the tires replaced. Snow or winter tires are
a great option for those that have significantsnowfall to deal with every year. An old trick is tocheck the tires with a penny. If you insert thehead of the Abraham Lincoln picture and part ofit is hidden by the groove, you are on the safeside. If you can see his entire head, it's time toreplace those tires. Finally, you'll want to listen toyour car at highway speeds for any irregularnoises, grinding or bumping sounds. If you dosense something, have it checked out by a pro-fessional.
Your tires are your first line of defense againstinclement weather and road conditions in thewinter. They should be checked regularly to
ensure you get the maximum life from them andthey are giving you maximum contact with theroad. Dealing with tires isn't a glamorous part ofcar care maintenance, but keeping your tires ingood shape will save you money in the long runand ensure your safety.

By Sam EricksonWith all of the things to keep track of-the
battery life on your phone, the kids' schedules, plans for the weekend-it can be difficult to cramin all of the necessities, like taking good care ofyour car in the fall season. There are a lot ofthings to take care of in your car, but a handymnemonic to help you remember is the four Bs-blades, battery, brakes and belts.
Blades: Wiper blades are your first defenseagainst accidents because they help you to seeclearly and make smart decisions. Blades canget cracked or warped over time and theirhousing cases can become unbalanced, lead-ing to poor visibility. Compound that poor visi-
bility with dangerous driving conditions likesnow or ice, and you could have a real prob-lem. Wiper blades are easy to replace and rel-atively inexpensive. You can pick up a cheapset at almost any store if your current wipersaren't cleaning up to your standards.
Battery: Heat in summer can actuallyreduce your battery life. A visual inspection willshow you if your cables have corroded or ifthere is a problem with contact on the batteryposts. Cleaning these is something that can andshould be done by a professional. A profes-sional mechanic can also check the batterypower and recommend whether you should

By Sam EricksonOctober is Fall Car Care Month. With
the imminent onset of winter, it's time togive your car a full system review. Thishandy checklist can let you know what youshould do in order to get the most out ofyour car. If you've only got a short amountof time, follow these in order to maximizeyour efforts.
Brakes_Heat and increased travel dur-ing summer can wear out the rotors, shoes, pads, drums and calipers on your brakes. These are complicated systems. Whilesome people feel comfortable handlingthis inspection and any repairs themselves, other less-knowledgeable car owners relyon their mechanics to inspect and replacethese.
The Engine: If your car runs rough onthe road or when idling, it's best to have itchecked out by a mechanic. Winter is atime when you are relying more on yourcar, so it's worth the investment.
Tires:Check the tires for their tread life
and any worn or bald spots. Rotating tiresregularly can prevent uneven wearing andincrease the life of every tire on your car.Checking for the right tire pressure isimportant to do every month, but it is evenmore important as you move into winter.
Battery: Increased battery problems in
the winter are actually often the result ofthe summer heat and extended driving.Corroded battery posts or a bulging casecan indicate problems. Professional toolsare needed to test the juice in your battery.
Wipers: Your wipers are your key to vis-ibility, and they are easy to replace andrelatively inexpensive. You can visuallyinspect your wipers for pits and cracks oryou can check them as they work. If theyhave good contact and clear water clean-ly, you probably won't need to replacethem for the winter.
Fluid Levels: Your car contains severaldifferent fluids: power steering, brake, oiland windshield wiper, to name a few.Check the levels in your owner's manualand make sure to top off these before theseason. It won't take long and it won't beexpensive. If you notice any very low lev-els, it might be time to have a professionalcheck for leaks.
Belts and Hoses: Belts and hosesappear in many places in a car. Check for
cracks in belts and soft spots in hoses, which often appear near the clams.Air Filter: The best thing about an air fil-
ter is that it is easy to change. Air filterskeep your car operating at peak efficiencyand give you the highest fuel efficiency. As

By Sam EricksonWinter is the time when most car care emer-
gencies happen. In the warm days of spring andsummer, few people are concerned about theoccasional roadside problem. With always-oncommunication and the proliferation of roadsideassistance programs, many people take it forgranted that they will be able to call for help at amoment's notice, regardless of the conditions.Mother Nature, however, has a way of humblingeven the most prepared driver. In winter weather, the stakes are much higher in case of emergen-cies, particularly in northern parts of the UnitedStates. If your area has inclement weather, be
prepared to meet any challenges by equippingyour car with an emergency preparedness kit.
The most important things in a car emergencyare the same things that are important everyother day: food and water. Water is really themost critical element. Most people don't haveloads of extra space in their car, but water canbe stored in small drink boxes or pouches in thetrunk. Water is also useful for sanitation or for tak-ing care of an overheated car. Food can be aproblem because cars are often exposed tosevere temperatures, which makes food storagedifficult. Calorie-dense items, which are not per-ishable, are your best bet. These could include
dried fruits, nuts and energy bars designed forhiking or camping.
Food and water can provide an importantpsychological boost as well. Many experts haveargued that people who survive stressful situa-tions are not necessarily the best prepared. Thepeople who overcome these obstacles are theones who believe they can. While they certainlyprovide physical comfort, food and water can goa long way toward providing that psychologicalcomfort as well.
Once you've taken care of these essentials, you can look to a few more important items.Staying dry and warm will help you preserveenergy, so blankets and a poncho or raincoatare the next most important things to get into your
kit. A solid multi-tool gives you flexibility withoutadding too much weight or the need for extraspace, and a first aid kit is essential to take careof any small injuries that might occur. If you havekids, consider providing some toys to occupytheir time while you wait for help.
Commercial kits are available at big-boxstores, hardware stores and many stores special-izing in auto parts. These are often more expen-sive than building a kit yourself, but t hey are con-venient and can be used as a starting point foryour kit. Only you can decide what the bestoption is to make sure that you don't get stuckwithout assistance. Being prepared in case of an
emergency will give you the tools-physical andpsychological-to get through the ordeal.
Emergency in the car? No problem
have the battery replaced. The last thing youwant is to be stuck somewhere in the middle ofbad weather with a dead battery.
Brakes: Good brakes are essential to thesafe operation of your car, particularly on badroads. If your brake pedal has a little extra giveor goes all the way down to the floor, it is def-initely time to have your brakes looked at by a
professional. Sound is often your best indica-tion of how your brakes are doing. If there isnoise when you apply the brake, like metal onmetal, there might be too much wear on thedisks. If there is a grinding noise, you mighthave worn out the rotors or disks. Your bestoption is to have your car towed to the shop toprevent any possibility of an accident if yourbrakes are that worn down. Have your brakeschecked regularly by an expert to avoid these
problems.Belts (and hoses): There are several differ-
ent belts and hoses in your engine. When theengine is cool, squeeze the hose to check forsoft or mushy spots, which often occur aroundthe clamps. You can also look for cracks, bulges or contamination of any sort with youreyes and with your hands. If hoses are dam-aged, replacement should take place immedi-ately. A busted hose or belt will leave you
stranded on the side of the road. If you haveany questions, have your car inspected by anexpert.
The simple fact is t hat in inclement weatheryou rely more on your car than you do in thesummer, and the stakes are higher if there is afailure. There are a lot of things that can bechecked in preparation for the winter, but thesimplicity of the Four Bs makes it a really usefulway to approach fall car care.

Halloween is approaching and parentsneed to keep safety in mind, according toexperts.
Its important for parents to be aware ofthe possible dangers involved with selectingcostumes, carving pumpkins, and trick-or-treat-ing, so accidents can be avoided and every-one can enjoy the holiday, said BeverlyAnderson, Executive Director of EbenezerChild Care Centers with locations inMilwaukee, Mequon, Greenfield, Oak Creekand Wauwatosa.
The following are tips for a safe and fun
Halloween. Selecting costumes:* Choose flame retardant costumes, and
ones that allow your children to see clearlyand walk freely without restraint.
* If children are trick-or-treating, parentsshould consider purchasing costumes that arebrightly colored.
* Be mindful of the weather. Whileprincess and fairy costumes are always a pref-erence for little girls, t hey arent very practicalfor Wisconsins weather, said Anderson.
Carving pumpkins:
* Never allow children to carve jack-o-lanterns without supervision and assistance.
* Instead of using knives, purchase pump-kin carving tools that are less dangerous andavailable at most convenience stores.
* Never allow children to light their jack-o-lanterns, and always make sure that they areset in places that are not near flammables or lit-tle hands.
Trick-or-Treating:* Never allow children to trick-or-treat
alone.
* Make sure they stay on sidewalks and indriveways, and that they only visit homeswhere the lights are on. Its also a good ideato carry flashlights.
* Inspect all candy for tampering and anyitems that are unwrapped, prior to allowingchildren to eat them.
* For children under 5, remove all candythat could pose a choking hazard.

(NAPSI)A growing number of companiesbelieve they can benefit from efforts to
increase the diversity of their managementteam. One way corporations can recruit withan eye toward more diversity is by partneringwith intern programs designed to aid in thiseffort.
For example, one such program is describedas the nations top provider of professionalleadership training and corporate internshipsfor underserved students in the U.S., Canadaand Mexico and has been described as aleader in promoting diversity and inclusionfor corporate America for more than 40 years.
Called INROADS, it has trained andcoached over 150,000 students and
professionals and served more than 2,000corporate partners. Plus, a Procter & Gambleretention study showed that its graduatesremain on average two to three years longerthan those hired via other internal or partnerprograms.
In DiversityInc.s 2013 list of the Top 50Companies for Diversity, eight of the top 10companies are INROADS partners.
