Discipleship
Sunday School is Discipleship Training!!!
Discipleship Training is Sunday School!!!
Acts 5: 42Day after day, in the temple
courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming
the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
Discipleship isEvangelism“teaching and
proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah(the Christ)”
Matthew 28: 18-20Then Jesus came to them and said, “All
authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Ephesians 4:11-12(KJV)And He gave some, apostles; and
some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and
teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ…
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV) So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the
evangelists, the pastors and teachers,
to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of
Christ may be built up…
Ephesians 4: 11-12(AMP)And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave
men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some
prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some
evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries),
some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.
His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the
saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the
work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the
church)…
QuestionWhat is discipleship in
your own words?(Bill asked in class if I was assigning
homework & if everyone was to write a 500 word essay. Not a bad idea,
Bill.)
Discipleship is“equip(ping) His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ
may be built up…”
QuestionWho does discipleship, the work
of the ministry?
a) The Pastor
b) You and I
Answer: Both
Colossians 3:16 (AMP)Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the
Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its]
richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and
intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making
melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.
Discipleship is“you (and I) teach(ing) and admonish(ing) and train(ing) one another”
(Counseling One Another)
Romans 15:14 (AMP)Personally I am satisfied about
you, my brethren, that you yourselves are rich in goodness, amply filled with all [spiritual] knowledge and competent to admonish and counsel and
instruct (Gk. noutheteo) one another also.
