• Nomination is a requirement from the Foundation
• General Procedures at LiU:
➢ Departments inform researchers about upcoming calls-Targeted or general
➢ Procedures for pre-applications➢ Advisory board reviews documents and prioritizes candidates/
applications at an Advisory board meeting➢ Researchers informed

The Wallenberg Foundations: Support from LiU Grants Office
• Start-up meetings
• Time plan for application procedures
• Review application
• Support with budget issues

Research Project with High Scientific PotentialSupport research of highest international standard
• Primarily: Natural Science, Technology and Medicine(Other disciplines may recieve support on the condition that they arerelated to research questions of relevance of the above)
• Typically total of 15-50 million SEK, 3-5 years, 2-5 researchers (PIs)• Main PI to spend at least 70% time/position in Sweden (co-PI 50%)• Only participate in 2 projects (one as main and one as co-PI)• Focused on coherent research question where the complementary
expertise of the participating researchers enables them to address theircommon research question
• Priority to synergistic effect between the team members• Fundamental research, interdisciplinary

Provide resources for Sweden’s most promising young researchers in Medicine, Natural sciences, Engineering & technology and Social science & humanities
• Universities are invited to nominate candidates for the program • Next deadline is in February 2021 (every two years)• 40% underrepresented sex, and for each internal nominee/ one
international/external nominee• PhD obtained after 1 January 2012 • The Swedish Academies will evaluate and select the most promising
researchers and the Universities will take long-term responsibility for theseindividuals
