Summer 2009: VBISummer 2009: VBI
Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI) is a research institute dedicated to the study of the biological sciences. The research platform of VBI focuses on the "disease triangle" of host-pathogen-environment interactions.

• 10 weeks: May 24 – July 31• $2,500 stipend, room & meal plan, GRE
Preparation (possible MCAT), professional development & weekend activities
MAOP Opportunity in MAOP Opportunity in Veterinary MedicineVeterinary Medicine
• Opportunity to explore research and hands-on training in Veterinary Medicine
• Veterinary Medicine not only taking care of cats and dogs; but includes many practical applications to the medical/health professions
• Typically supports up to 5 students with interest in a career in Veterinary Medicine or related field

• Research Internships in the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM)
• Hands-on experiences in a medical environment through research opportunities
• New opportunity exclusively for 3-5 Alliance participants

as obesity, infectious diseases, vector-borne diseases and other health-related items that impact the medical/health fields
• Collaborations with cluster of faculty on various projects and experience in the lab environment
• Seeking 3-5 Alliance participants with interest in the above-mentioned areas
