President’s Budget Enacted Conference Mark
3 New GOES-R Contracts Awarded
• Series will continue geostationary satellite program.
NPOESS a Priority
• Improvements will translate into weather models that lead to better forecasts and warnings and enhanced data and products needed for climate and ocean research and monitoring of space weather.
NOAA-NASA Research-to-Operations
• Joint Working Group for Research and Operations
Office of Space Commercialization
• Long history of promoting interests of commercial space
industry
UAS Demonstration• A first for NOAA
• Aimed at filling critical research and observational gaps
“Google” the EarthGlobal Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS)
GEOSS ConceptsInformation-Sharing During
Disasters
• Agreement by all countries, governments and industry partners to share timely in situ and satellite information during disasters.
“GEONETcast”
• Global broadcast system for the delivery of data, products and services in support of all nine GEOSS societal benefit areas, including reducing loss of life and property from disasters.
Web-based Portal System
• Common web-based portal system for access to all Earth observation data, with specific links designed to increase use, quality and accessibility of existing information tools and networks – could serve as the data base link to GEONETcast.
How Can 22 Aerospace Companies Benefit From
GEOSS?• Access/provide the right information, in the right format, at the right
time, to the right people, to make the right decisions. • Open new markets, technology transfer and capacity-building for less
developed countries with development aid organization funding. • Ongoing dialogue with user communities, allowing industry to better
understand requirements in terms of observations. • Development of satellites and associated ground resources to ensure
continuity of observations, such as NPOESS and GOES-R.• Development of new missions needed to fill existing gaps and
measure new parameters. • Development of information technology infrastructure to facilitate
“one-stop shopping” and ensure that vast amounts of data can be extracted and distributed effectively by and to a broad range of stakeholders.
• Development of standards to help ensure that systems are interoperable, including standards that are not platform/system/technology dependent.
