• Member of the Herring family
• Short lifespan (1-3 years)
• Surface feeder- Feed on Phytoplankton- (low environmental contaminants)
• High oil yielding fish, naturally rich in EPA and DHA
• The female menhaden can lay up to 362,000 eggs. Typical 50,000 to 100,000
