Retail implications:TemperatureswillbeslightlyabovenormalinmuchoftheEast,encouragingspringdemand.
• Lastyear, thisweekwas thewarmestsince2012:TheUSwasdriestithadbeenin20years.
• Flip-floppingintheEast:ThePlainsstateswillseethemostvaried temperatures of the week as the regionwill startcool, warm up, then cool back down. The week will alsobeginwithrainthroughoutintheNortheast.Bymidweek,astorm systemwill tap into Gulf moisture, bringing rain—inclusive of severe weather—to the mid-South andthunderstormstotheeasternUS.
• Spring takes a time-out in theWest: Cooler-than-normalair will move from the West into the Plains early in theweek. Temperatures will trend well below last year fromtheSouthwesttothePlains.

Retail implications: Warmth in the West will encouragespringdemand.
• Last year, this week was warmer than normal: Rainfallwasabovenormal.Severeweatherwaswidespread,withover30tornadoesaffectingtheMidwest.
• A cold start in the East: The calendar says spring, butmuchoftheeasternUSwillfeelalateblastofwinterwithtemperatures plunging 10 to 15 degrees below normaland last year.Bymidweek the coldairwill start toease,andbyweek’sendspringwarmthwillbeback.
• April showers: The active spring precipitation patterncontinues. The Plains should be onwatch for heavy rainand severe thunderstorms. Snowwillmostlybe confinedtothenorthernRockies.
