Function, sectionTypeWM..valvesaremechanical,manuallyactuateddirec-tional spool valves.Theycontrolthestart,stopanddirectionofaflow.Directionalvalvesbasicallyconsistofhousing(1),oneactu-atingelement(2)(rollerplunger,hand-controlledlever,rotaryknob),controlpiston(3),andoneortworeturnsprings(4).Inde-energizedcondition,thereturnsprings(4)maintainthecontrolpiston(3)incenterorinitialposition-iftherotaryknobis actuated with a detent.The control piston (3) is moved to the desired spool position bymeansofactuatingelements.DetentDirectionalvalveswithrotaryknobaregenerallydesignedwithdetent.Directionalvalveswithhandle-operatedleverareoptionallyavailableas2or3positionvalveswithdetent. Directionalvalveswithrollerplungeraregenerallyde-signed without detent. If actuating elements with detent are used,eachspoolpositioncanbelocked,dependingonthevalvetype.Throttle insertThe use of a throttle insert is required when due to prevail-ing operating conditions, flows can occur during the switching processes, which exceed the performance limit of the valve.It is inserted in channel P of the directional valve.
