grapefruit, frankincense, black pepper, ylang ylang, bergamot, rose, sandalwood,
chamomile, eucalyptus. The fact sheet should include the following:

Common and Latin name: Lavender / Lavandula
Angustifolia:
Lavender oil is an essential oil obtained by distillation from the flower spikes of certain species of
lavender. Also, known as a small aromatic evergreen shrub of the mint family, with narrow leaves
and bluish-purple flowers.
Part of plant:
Leaves and Flowers/Buds
Uses:
• Boosts the immunity and digestive health
• Can work as an effective bug repellent and reduces irritation caused by bug bites
• Relieves muscle and joint pains
• Stimulating effect on the urine flow
• Treats acne and hair loss
• Reduces mental stress and anxiety
• Aids in treating insomnia
• Improves blood circulation
• Battles respiratory tract infections
• Increases cognitive functions
Notes:
Can be used as a Top/ Middle
Cautions:
• Not to be used through ingestion
• Cannot be used alone as it is highly concentrated

Common and Latin name: Orange/ Citrus sinensis
Sweet Orange Essential Oil is most often referred to simply as Orange Oil. With its versatility,
affordability and wonderfully uplifting aroma, Orange Essential Oil is one of the most popular of
essential oils within aromatherapy. The aroma of Orange Oil is cheerful and helps to improve the
aroma of a stale-smelling or smoky room. (Lemon is even better for diffusing in smoky rooms).
Orange Essential Oil has become a popular ingredient within a wide assortment of natural household
cleaning products
Part of Plant: Peel of the fruit
Uses: • Provides relief from inflammation
• Boosts immunity
• Disinfects the wounds
• Alleviates anxiety, anger and depression
• Relaxes muscular and nervous spasms
• Helps in removal of excess gas and toxins
• Cures acne and dermatitis
• Increased libido
Notes: Top/Middle
Cautions • For external use only and keep out of reach of children.
• For all other uses, dilute with a carrier oil such as jojoba, grapeseed, olive or almond as it is pure oil.
• Excess consumption causes nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite

Common and Latin name: Geranium/ Pelargonium
Graveolens
Geranium is a perennial shrub with small pink flowers and pointy leaves that is native to
South Africa that is widely used for aromatherapy.

Uses: • Improves dental health
• Reduces blood pressure
• Improves blood circulation
• Minimises inflammation
• Reduces depression
• Relieves stress
• Balances hormones
• Alleviates the effects of menopause
• Benefits the health of your skin
• Treat Insomnia
Note: Middle
Cautions: • Should not be taken internally without the supervision of a health professional
• Internal uses of this essential oil may have toxic effects
• Some individuals may experience irritation or an allergic reaction when applying
geranium to the skin.

Common and Latin name: Grapefruit/ Citrus Paradisi
Grapefruit essential oil smells just like the fruit. Therefore, grapefruit oil has some wonderful
health benefits as will be seen in this section below.
Part of Plant: Tree/Peel
Uses • Helps with weight loss
• Curbing sugar cravings
• Decreases fluid retention
• Stimulates and supports a healthy immune system/ metabolism
• Reduces depression and physical fatigue
• Cleansing the body and purifies it
• For disinfecting surfaces
• Beneficial for oily skin issues

Cautions
• Keep out of eyes, ears, or nose
• The excessive use of the grapefruit oil can lead to skin sensitisation
• Always test for skin sensitivity prior to widespread use in the feet when possible
• Avoid contact with direct sunlight for 12+ hours after use

Common and Latin name: Frankincense/ Olibanum
Frankincense oil has an earthly, uplifting aroma that’s perfect for grounding and spiritual
connection. When you seek purpose or engage in prayer or meditation, you can use this oil
to enhance their experience.
Part of plant: Resin/Balsam/Gum
Uses: • May help fight cancer or deal with chemotherapy side effects
• Helps reduce stress reactions and negative emotions
• Astringent and can kill harmful germs and bacteria
• Helps boost immune system function and prevents illness
• Alleviates digestion
• Helps to decrease inflammation and pain
• Balances hormone levels
• Acts as a sleep aid
• Heals skin and prevents signs of aging
Cautions: • Possible skin sensitivity.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact
with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.

Common and Latin name: Black Pepper/ Piper Nigrum
The aroma of Black Pepper Essential Oil is reminiscent to freshly ground peppercorns, but it
is a bit more complex with hints of green and perhaps a bit of floral.

Uses • Provides relief from cramps, spasms and convulsions
• Cleanses intestine and cures infections in digestive system
• Beneficial for digestion
• Helps remove gases from stomach and intestine
• Effective remedy for curing rheumatism and arthritis
• Promotes urination and sweating
• Rich in antioxidant and antibacterial properties

Common and Latin name: Ylang Ylang: Cananga
Odorata
The essential oil of ylang-ylang is extracted by steam distillation of fresh flowers of the ylang-
ylang tree, which bears the scientific name Cananga odorata and is commonly found in the
rainforests of certain Asian and South Pacific Islands like Indonesia, Philippines, Java,
Sumatra, Comoro and Polynesia.

• Cures seborrhoea

Common and Latin name: Bergamot: Citrus Bergamia
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) has the fresh, sweet, citrus scent that is familiar to many as the flavoring in Earl Grey Tea. Uplifting and relaxing, it is good for building confidence and enhancing your mood.

• Reduces nervous tension, anxiety, depression and stress
• Improves blood circulation and relieves depression
• Reduces overall pain
• Eliminates scars and acne marks
• Reduces fever and lowers body temperature

• Quickens the digestive process
Caution Citrus oils should not be applied to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or ultraviolet
light within 72 hours

Common and Latin name: Rose: Rosa Damascena
Rose essential oil is extracted from the petals of various types of rose and it is widely grown
in Syria, Bulgaria, Turkey, Russia, Pakistan, India, Uzbekistan, Iran and China

• Boosts libido
• Prevents internal bacterial infections
• Boosts confidence and fights depression
• Controls high fever
• Purifies blood and uterus
• Cures convulsion, muscle pulls, cramps and spasmodic cholera
• Stimulates hormone secretion that triggers menstruation
Caution: Avoid during pregnancy

Common and Latin name: Sandalwood/ Santalum
Album
Sandalwood is a class of woods from trees in the genus Santalum. The woods are heavy,
yellow, and fine-grained, and unlike many other aromatic woods, they retain their fragrance
for decades. Sandalwood oil is extracted from the woods for use.

• Helps in weight management
• Lowers bad cholesterol
• Boosts immune system
• Heals scars and sports
• Strengthens gums and muscles
• Helps in treating urinary infections
Cautions • Always test for skin sensitivity prior to widespread use and use on the feet when possible.
• Excessive use of this oil can lead to skin sensitisation.
• Keep out of eyes, ears or nose.
• Also, note that not all oils are created equal, so test carefully, and never use this oil in a way
not recommended by its maker.

Uses • Skin health for example; it aids wounds, ulcers, eczema, gout, skin irritations, bruises, burns
and canker sores
• Relieves PMS symptoms
• Rich in antioxidants because it fights free radical, healthier skin, hair, nails, teeth and eyes
• Anti- inflammatory. It reduces pain, congestion, swelling and redness
• Calm anxiety and depression
• Relieves congestion- alleviate cold, the flu or sinus infection
• Aid digestion including gas, acid reflux symptoms, diarrhoea, anorexia, motion sickness,
nausea, vomiting.
Cautions • Keep out of reach of children.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Not for internal use.
• If pregnant or lactating, consult a healthcare professional.

Globulus
Eucalyptus oil is the generic name for distilled oil from the leaf of eucalyptus, a genus of the
plant family Myrtaceae native to Australia and cultivated worldwide.

• Heals wounds, cuts, abrasions, sores and ulcers
• Helps with pain and inflammation
• Treats stress and mental disorders

• Reduces fever and flus
• Protects immune system
Cautions • Eucalyptus oil is extremely concentrated and contact should be avoided with the
following: Eyes, mucous membranes, lips, tongue, polished furniture and some plastic
surfaces.
• Materials such as suede, denim, silk and non-colourfast materials should always be patch
tested before using
