ActivityAdding Student Voice to Economic Development Plans(5 min) Step 2: Discuss in small groups
- What challenges do we face?- What are the biggest goals we have as Economic Developers?- What does the future of our town look like?- What connects the university to the community?- What does success look like for our university community?- What are the best metrics to track development of your community?
(4 min) Step 3: Take what you’ve just discussed and craft a challenge statement that your group is interested in exploring. Use this format: ____(your area)_______ need/needs a way to _________ because ___________________.
(9 min) Step 4: Based on the challenge you identified, brainstorm ways in which you can engage the students and the university community in your area.
(3 min) Step 5: Connect the dots--Through the channels you identified in your concept map, where would student input be most valuable and why? Which channels make the most sense?
(9 mins) Step 6: Share out!
