Sited in the south-east residential district of downtown Bozeman, The Hybrid was developed to explore the opportunities and challenges posed by dense development. The program includes a recreation center, retail, a site sourced market, orchards, green houses, light manufacturing, and residential. The form and program were heavily influenced by the site via existing recreational trails, the Bozeman creek, and the lifestyles of the existing residences.

SITED ON THE CAMPUS OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY, MSAM (MONTANA STATE ART MUSEUM) STRIVES TO PROVIDE A NEW MEANS OF VIEWING THE ART MUSEUM. THE DRIVING CONCEPT BEHIND THE DESIGN WAS DRAWN FROM THE DÉRIVE.
A dérive (French: [/der.iv/], “drift”) is an unplanned journey through a landscape, usually urban, on which the subtle aesthetic contours of the surrounding architecture and geography subconsciously direct the travelers, with the ultimate goal of encountering an entirely new and authentic experience.

HYDROLOGY INSTITUTE&PUBLIC BATHS
Objective: Address the challenge of designing an Institute to study and create awareness of the current unsustainable practices regarding water usage in the United States. The Hydrology Institute of Seattle is sited on the shore of Elliot Bay in the historic district of downtown Seattle, WA. The driving concept was derived from the rising and falling of the tides in Elliot Bay. This concept is evident in the consistent changes of spatial experiences throughout the structure.

A secondary program element at the Hydrology Institute was a public bath space. The public baths are located in the black bar suspended across the entire building. The baths are a scaled model of the sea floor topography of Elliot Bay and the window voids trace the lunar path during the solstices of each season.during the solstices of each season.

The Lunar Observatory was a developmental project in order to further understand the concept and interpretation of what sublime characteristics we had discovered while investigating water. The conceptual intent for this project was to create an interface between the human inhabitation and the infinite cycle of the ocean tides. This was achieved by utilizing the lunar paths during the solstices of each season and allowing those paths the control views as well as the circulation throughout the building.
This study installation utilized a manifold that would inflate or deflate large balloons that were organized in different arrangements in order to morph the shape of the lunar observatory walls. The intention was to program the manifold to morph the dome so that the oculus would track the path of the moon.

The intent of this course was to develop a full set of construction documents with construction details. This was a collaboration project between myself and Vishwesh Panchal. The program that was provided was to design a laboratory for Tom Woods who is the Environmental Controls Professor for Montana State University.

The Butte, MT infill project was Designed as an Artist live-in studio and gallery. My chosen artist was Donald Judd, his self proclaimed empiricists style called for a canvas that allowed for the expressive characteristics of the chosen materials to be showcased and interpreted individually by the viewer. The space was to be designed to compliment the artists aesthetics and to accommodate for their particular style of work and also fit into the cultural context of Butte, MT
