NEW DELHI, June 20:

Amid concerns over delaysin implementing projects toimprove court infrastructure, theCentre has decided to give HighCourt judges an upper hand inmonitoring the flow of funds forsuch activity, an area which atpresent is the domain of thestate bureaucracy.

At a conference of ChiefJustices held here in April, itwas noted that there is a“deficit” between the need forand the availability of infra-structure, particularly in the dis-trict judiciary.

The Chief Justices of theHigh Courts had also flaggedthe issue of “delays in the com-pletion of projects”.

The conference, chaired byChief Justice of India T SThakur, had resolved to consti-

tute a committee of three judgesin all the High Courts of whichthe State Chief Secretary andSecretaries of the departmentsof Finance, Public Works andLaw be co-opted as members toclosely monitor the timely com-pletion of projects.(PTI)
