• Must be employed within a certified SBE, DBE, MBE,

• You MUST attend the program in it’s entirely

Lean Construction Management
Lean emphasizes collaboration, scheduling reliability and delivering the greatest value to the client. In this class, you will learn the basics of “pull plan” scheduling, reducing wasteful practices, creating reliable workflow, and defining value from the client’s perspective.
Safety is an integral part of risk management. This training covers safety awareness, business‐side/project‐side issues, and important resources such as check lists and sample safety programs. Insurance and bonding are also discussed.

This class is focused on the importance of strategic and annual planning as an important management tool. You will learn how to use strategic plans and annual budgets to create action items and fulfill business goals.
An organized accounting and financial system is vital. This training covers cash flow management and understanding how contract terms and submissions affect it. Participants are exposed to cash management tools and learn the importance of effective finance.
Managing risk is essential. The methods of lump sum, cost plus fee, construction management, design‐build, and program management, and their associated risks, are covered in detail along with contract risk management and litigation avoidance.
The fundamentals of field management including risk control, quality, safety, scheduling, and oversight are discussed. Project‐side issues such as start‐up, management, reviews, record keeping, and closeout are also covered in detail.
Participants are recognized in a formal graduation ceremony and networking session with Turner and our program partners. A question and answer session with Detroit’s most successful Small, Disadvantaged, Minority‐Owned, Women‐Owned, and Veteran‐Owned Businesses is also featured.

Estimating, Bidding & Procurement
This class covers a detailed discussion of the estimating and bidding process, including bids from the GC to the client to obtain work along with subcontractors to the GC to hire a high quality workforce.
Sales & Marketing
Profitable work makes a company healthy. You will learn the fundamentals of effective networking, identifying clients, tracking project leads, and how to differentiate and market your firm to obtain profitable work.

There is no cost to participate, however, because we normally turn away interested individuals, it is important that we have a firm commitment from those who are accepted.
