Gloria
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory.
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of
the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
1st Reading Gn 2:18-24
The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him.” So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals
and various birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each of them would be its name. The man
gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air, and all wild animals; but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. So the LORD God cast a deep sleep
on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. The LORD God then built up into a woman the rib that he had
taken from the man. When he brought her to the man, the man said: "This one, at last, is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called 'woman,
‘for out of 'her man’ this one has been taken.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one flesh.
Responsorial Psalm Ps 128:1-2, 3, 4-5, 6
R. May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives.
2nd Reading Heb 2:9-11
Brothers and sisters: He "for a little while" was made "lower than the angels, “that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he, for
whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many children to glory, should make the leader to their salvation perfect through suffering. He who consecrates
and those who are being consecrated all have one origin. Therefore, he is not ashamed to call them “brothers.”
Gospel Mk 10:2-16
The Pharisees approached Jesus and asked, “Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?” They were testing him. He said to them in reply, "What did Moses com-
mand you?" They replied, "Moses permitted a husband to write a bill of divorce and dismiss her.” But Jesus told them, "Because of the hardness of your hearts he
wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be
joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must
separate." In the house the disciples again questioned Jesus about this. He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against
her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”
And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them,
"Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of
God like a child will not enter it.” Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.
The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
[bow]
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has
spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

This past week was busy for me but very rewarding as a Preist. It’s weeks like this where you just go to bed after you get back home and wake
up in the morning to start again. But don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed this past week and I made many great memories, I wouldn’t trade it for
anything.
One thing I would like is to be more apart of your families. Maybe you know of an event where some parishioners are going - feel free to invite
me. I would love to come. Maybe you are hosting a large meal and have an extra seat at the table, I always need to eat and don’t like cooking :)
Maybe there is a game your child is apart of - feel free to invite me. Sometimes I just don’t know which games to prioritize in my schedule. A lot
of times I just may be free in the afternoons/evenings.
This past week St. Josephs held their annual festival. It was awesome being able to be back to normal this year. I want to express my gratitude
and thanks to those who helped put on this huge event. The committee and all the volunteers put in long hours to make sure it was a success
again. Thank you. And to those who came thank you as well. We hope to see you next year as well as we rebuild back to some normalcy.
I also just wanted to invite you one last time to the crop walk this Sunday, October 3rd at Westside Park next to the St. Josephs. Registration is
from 12:30-1pm with the walk at 1pm. God Bless you all!

“Get to Know the STO”-- How does it work? Did you know that
the 75% Tax Credit for an STO donation is the largest credit in
the state of Iowa? It’s a simple way to help Catholic education
and a simple tax credit to use. As an example; If you expect to
owe $900 in Iowa income taxes this year, donate $1,200 to the
STO, and you’ll receive a $900 Tax Credit Certificate. Redeem
the credit at tax time, and you’ve now eliminated your Iowa in-
come tax liability. You’ll provide $1200 worth of STO support for
only $300, and you now owe $0 in Iowa income tax. Please
check with your tax professional on how this might work for
you. For more information, visit www.ourfaithsto.org.

What is the Period of the Catechumenate? What happens during
this period of initiation? The seasons and celebrations of the litur-
gical year with their readings, prayers, and music all reveal the mys-
teries and teachings of the faith—especially the Paschal Mystery at
its core (the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ). Experienc-
ing the unfolding of those insights and teachings throughout a full
liturgical year is an important part of the catechesis of the Catechu-
menate. In this way, catechumens receive instruction; they become
acquainted with the basic dogmas and precepts of the Church, reflect
on them, and begin to make them their own. Catechumens experi-
ence the new life to which they are called in the midst of the Christian
assembly. The community helps catechumens to know Jesus, to live
as Christians, and to hear the call of the Holy Spirit.
