TOWER CRANE
Detailed learning program of tower crane for multi-machines platforms
LEARNING PROGRAM
Non-contractual documents
This simulation pack developed by Acreos, proposes a complete learning experience of the driving and functioning of a tower crane.
It allows assimilation of knowledge and skills in a simple way with increasing difficulties. The exercises will allow acquiring the knowledge needed to work productively, effectively and in complete safety.
OBJECTIVES
FUNCTIONINGThe learning in the driving and functioning of the equipment is made up of different learning modules, which are divided into 3 to 6 series, each series is composed of 3 to 20 exercises.
Number of available modules : 14 (Each module focuses on one specific educational point).Number of exercises per module : From 10 to more than 60 exercises.
According to the module, the exercises have similar or progressive difficulties.
In this way, the trainee follows a defined learning program, without starting again systematically from the first exercise of the module. However, the beginning of each series is always made from the same exercise.
It is impossible to go to the next exercise without completing the previous one.
Gsta Software (Trainees learning management), allows to save the practical exercises results and/or theoretical test results of each trainee.
The locking of the progress from a serie to another one, and from a module to the next one, is able to check the monitoring of the learning progression of the trainee. The learning follows a studied educational progress.

THE ACREOS SOLUTION
PEDAGOGICAL MODULESRegarding the tower crane educational program, it is made up of 14 modules :
MODULE 1
MODULE 2
Objective : Perform a pre-operation inspection of the machine, in order to identify any defects before starting operation.
- Series of exercises : 3- Number of exercises : 9- Duration of each exercise : From 10 to 20 minutes
MODULE 0
PRE-OPERATIONAL INSPECTION
IDENTIFICATION OF THE CONTROLS
OUTSIDE VIEW
Objective : Recognize the differents types of controls that will be presented to you.
- Series of exercises : 6- Number of exercises : 120- Duration of each exercise : From 3 to 15 seconds
Objective : Manipulate the different controls and observe the reactions of the equipment from an outside view.
This module has no exercise.
Objective : Assimilate the reflexes needed to stop a balancing movement, automatically caused by the simulator. The distribution control is the only action available in this module. Catching the sway means immobilizing the hook to stop, in order to avoid a potential accident (material or human collision).
The first series will be without loads in order to acquire the basic reflexes. Then, the hook will lift up a load to increase the level of difficulties.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 15 to 45 seconds
Objective : The trainee will have to move a load from a position to another area, just using the tower crane orientation.
To end the exercises, the load will have to be immobilized, hence the sway control exercises seen in the last module.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 30 to 90 seconds
Objective : Learning to make the crane’s translation movement respecting the restrictions of this maneuver.
- Series of exercises : 3- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 1 to 2 minutes
MODULE 3
MODULE 4
MODULE 5
TRANSLATION OF THE TOWER CRANE
CATCH THE SWAY IN ONE DIRECTION (DISTRIBUTION)
DISPLACEMENT THE LOADS IN ONE DIRECTION (DISTRIBUTION)
Objective : The trainee will have to move a load from a position to another area, just using the tower crane orientation.
To end the exercises, the load will have to be immobilized, hence the sway control exercises seen in the last module.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 30 to 90 seconds
Objective : Practice the catch of the sway learned in the preceding modules.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 15 to 45 seconds
Objective : The trainee will have to stop a balancing movement, automatically caused by the simulator. This time, the movement to be controlled is a rotation one, the unique control to use is the tower crane orientation.
The first series will be without loads in order to acquire the basic reflexes. Then, the hook will lift up a load to increase the level of difficulties.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 15 to 60 seconds
MODULE 6
MODULE 7
MODULE 8
CATCH THE SWAY IN ONE DIRECTION (ROTATION)
DISPLACEMENT THE LOADS IN ONE DIRECTION (ROTATION)
CATCH THE SWAY (COMPLEX)
MODULE 9
MODULE 10
MODULE 11
TARGETING OF THE LOADS
UNDERSTANDING THE ABACUS OF LOADS
FOLLOW THE ACTIONS AND GESTURES OF COMMAND
Objective : Locate a load on the target area, directly above.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 30 to 90 seconds
Objective : Learning to read and follow the information provided by the abacus of loads based on the type of load used. Then, move the load to the target zone in total security.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 40- Duration of each exercise : From 2 to 5 minutes
Objective : Spontaneously identify the gestures of command.
- Series of exercises : 6- Number of exercises : 120- Duration of each exercise : From 5 to 15 seconds
MODULE 12
MODULE 13
MODULE 14
POSITIONING OF THE LOADS
POSITIONING OF THE LOADS WITH WIND
POURING CONCRETE
Objective : Follow the indications provided by the maneuver chief in order to place correctly the load on a defined zone.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 1 to 3 minutes
Objective : Identical to the previous module, but you will have to take into account the wind strength.
- Series of exercises : 4- Number of exercises : 60- Duration of each exercise : From 1 to 3 minutes
Objective : Place the learner in a real situation, where he must implement all his knowledge in order to perform several pouring concrete cycles.
- Series of exercises : 10- Number of exercises : 20- Duration of each exercise : From 10 to 20 minutes
