Abstract
• Our presentation shares a dynamic combination that we've found to be essential for integrating research into our undergraduate nursing program.
• We combine an innovative triad for maximum research and learning effectiveness. The deliberate interactions of our three-brain triad: honors liaison, research faculty and honors students have resulted in significant success.
• Facets of this triad will be discussed, exposing the important role each plays in the outcomes of student research and student learning.

Honors Liaison
• Each academic department at UNCG has a faculty Honor Liaison who is knowledgeable about their own programs as well as the International Honors Program.
• Honors students are encouraged to get to know the Liaison in their department, especially by the time they are juniors and fully in their major.
![Page 13: Three Brains Are Better Than One: Honors Liaison/Research Faculty/Honors Student Teamwork](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062305/568148cd550346895db5ea34/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Honors Liaison Assistance: Appointments & Walk-ins
• Keep file on all students registered with Honors
• Brainstorm with students about areas of interest for junior-level “enrichment activities” -> honors credit for clinical courses
• Brainstorm with students about their senior honors project – topic and faculty research advisors
![Page 14: Three Brains Are Better Than One: Honors Liaison/Research Faculty/Honors Student Teamwork](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062305/568148cd550346895db5ea34/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Senior Honors Project• Begin thinking about a topic - Gather
your thoughts about what sort of topics would be interesting to you. Talk to fellow students and your professors and to hone your ideas.
• Find a faculty director to supervise your project - After you have a sense of what you would like to do, identify a faculty member whom you would like to work with and discuss your topic(s) with that person. If that faculty member agrees to supervise the Senior Honors Project, you can then begin refining your thinking about a more specific research topic.

Faculty Support & Enthusiasm
• Honors advisors (liaisons) are aware of faculty research interests, often guide students in finding a faculty research project director
• Faculty are ready, willing & able to facilitate undergraduate research projects
• Undergraduate Research Assistantship (URA), student stipend of $1,000/semester
• Senior Honors Project = URA or Honors Independent Study
![Page 16: Three Brains Are Better Than One: Honors Liaison/Research Faculty/Honors Student Teamwork](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022062305/568148cd550346895db5ea34/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Communication
• Phone, email or in-person
• As fellow faculty, we work well together and never hesitate to suggest students contact the other
• We make appointments to bring a student to meet with each other or show-up at each other’s office with a student to discuss potential collaboration
