CALL TO CONFESSION
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, in baptism You promise forgiveness and new life, making us part
of the body of Christ. We confess that we remain preoccupied with ourselves,
separated from one another. We cling to destructive habits, hold grudges, and
show reluctance to welcome one another. We allow the past to hold us captive.
In the name of Jesus Christ, forgive and free us from sin. Fulfill the promises of
our baptism that we may rise to new life and live together in grace…(continue in
silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
One: In the name of the risen Christ, I declare that our sins are forgiven.
All: Alleluia! Amen!

ANTHEM My Son, the Beloved Blackwell
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth
of Galilee and was baptized by John in
the Jordan. And as he came out of the
water, he saw the heavens torn apart and
the Spirit descending like a dove on him.
And a voice came from heaven, “You are
my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well
pleased.” “My Son, the Beloved.”
The “Thursday Think” Bible Study Class
will begin Thursday, January 16, at noon in the
Parlor. Please join us for this new weekly Bible
Study being led by Danny and help us decide on
the direction of the class.
Because you gave…
First Presbyterian Church has received a total of
$2,177 toward our Joy Gift Christmas Eve
offering. Thank you for your gifts!
Year-End financial position
Due to strong giving at the close of the year, the church was able to end 2019 in a positive financial
position. This is the result of exceptional faithfulness on the part of the members and guests of this church
and the careful planning and execution of the budget by the stewardship and finance ministry.
Stewardship - 2020
The pledges for 2020 are short of our expected goal by $32,000 so, if you have not yet made your pledge,
please do so as soon as possible.
Overall, the church is in a wonderful financial position to begin 2020.

Celebration of Faith
February 21-23, 2020
The Lodge at Lake Blackshear
Cordele, Georgia
Celebration of Faith is a retreat weekend that
occurs every two years and provides occasions for
relaxation, study, worship and fellowship for
families and friends within and beyond the
borders of Flint River Presbytery. It is a time to
meet other Christians within the Presbytery. A
time to learn and be refreshed; just like Jesus did.
This is the 34th Celebration of Faith. All are wel-
come! Visit the Flint River Presbytery website at
www.flintriverpresbytery.org to register.
Circle #5 will meet on Tuesday, January 14, at
10:15 a.m. in the church parlor.
Forman Christian College, located in Lahore, Pakistan was founded in 1864 by Charles Forman, a
Presbyterian missionary from the US. After it’s denationalization in 2003, Forman came back as a strong
Christian institution. It is a Christian college where men and women, Muslims, Christians and others
learn in harmony and friendship. While it is attended primarily by Muslim students, it does have over
800 Christian students which is the highest number in higher education ever in Pakistan. The ministry at
Forman allows Christian students to be nurtured as they live in a country where their faith can bring them
under attack. Please pray for Forman as they transition to a new rector in January, 2020 who will contin-
ue the great path that has been set forth to help provide a more peaceful future in Pakistan.
