  • Instructions for using the Statewide GIS Open Geospatial Data Portal Site: https://geoportal.hawaii.gov

There are a number of ways to search for data: 1. Browse the data catalog to see all of the state’s data sets:

    https://geoportal.hawaii.gov/

  • 2. Browse the data by Category (chose “Terrestrial” Category):

  • 3. Search by keyword/tag (searched for “state district”):

  • Once you’ve found the dataset that you’re interested in, click on the layer name for more information:

In the Overview, you can see the description (click on the down arrow for more information), the attributes, and other information.

In the Data view, you can preview the attribute values, and even filter the data:

  • By clicking on the “funnel” icon next to the type column heading, we can search for all areas with an ludcode of “A” (for Agricultural Zone):

We’ve now selected 142 of the original 903 records

I can now export the dataset to shapefile, kml, or spreadsheet format. I can download either the full dataset or the filtered dataset.
