Who? Shy Year 7 Students
What? We are worried about presenting in front of big audiences at this year’s
AppsForGood finals (stage fright)
When? 23 June 2014
Where? At the Barbican
Why? We want to present our elevator pitch, but we get very nervous in front of people.
Problem:
Lauren is full of great ideas and is very smart, but she get very quiet
and shy when talking to others (especially with a big audience)
How can she do her elevator?
Question:
How can someone who is shy and has stage fright talk in front of a
large group of people?
Key Insight Statement:
You can practice your speech, but it is different when you are in front
of a crowd.
You can talk in a group, but the shy students want to be able to
contribute.
The mind work in strange ways look at the “King’s Speech”, an
app that relaxes shy speakers and helps them present would be
great.
Mini Elevator Pitch:
Our team, WhySoShy is developing an app to help shy people have the confidence to present in front of an
audience. The app does this by displaying the written speech one
word at a time and above the word is a photo of the shy presenter's best friend. The idea is the shy
presenter can focus on the words and the photo of her friend instead
of the big crowd of people listening. That relaxes the shy
speaker and helps them make a speak with confidence.
User Profiles:
Carla: one of my old friend’s is Carla she can speak to people and she doesn’t go red until she gets told to stand up and say what she
wrote for something. So, she is only shy when she gets told to do
a speech. That is because she doesn’t really like doing that
unless she is really confident on topic.
Back in primary she loved asking if she could say what she wrote on
her white board and her book and she always asked the teacher if
she could read with her best friend. So, she can speak in front of people (especially with her best friend). We both just love reading!
Competitors that already exist in the market. This app using
relaxation tricks to overcome stage fright
How the app will help with stage fright and shyness…
How the app will help with stage fright and shyness…
Feasibility:
This is a very easy app to make. The first version only needs…
1. Take a photo and record the friends details.
2. Import or type a speech and display it only word at a time.
3. Select and play speech at chosen speed
Customer Pledges:
All my friends said they would get the app, but no one really wants to
pay for it.
Marketing Strategy:
This is a simple app that could be used by anyone who needs to
speak in front of people.
We plan to promote this app by offering to the
2015 Apps for Good finalists.
(They are going to need it.)
We may also encourage politicians, CEOs, and others to use the app at
their next speaking event.
Wildcard:
We had lots of help with our idea from parents, teachers, students,
and the Apps for Good Community.
Thank you all.

It’s not a big deal but some people can be very shy when talking in front of an audience
People are shy because they get nervous when don’t know who they are talking too. Charlie is not really shy because she has loads of confidence and speaks her mind
People that I don’t think are very shy
So the starter of the person that’s not shy is one of my old friends Carla because she can speek to people and she doesn’t go red un’till she gets told to tell her to stand up and say what she wrote for something so she is only shy when she gets told to do that because she don’t Realy like doing that unless she is realy confident on doing that in school but when I was I primary she loved doing that in school she loved asking if she can say what she wrote on her white board and her book and she always asked the teacher if she can go and get the book to0 read and she always read just like me coz I love ready out laods, and in my head she was my best friend and she also loves her friends just like I love mine.
Things to be shy about
Speaking to strangersStanding up and speaking in front of people speaking to new people at there new school
and then the teacher shouting out your name for you to stand up and read your information out to the whole class.
You could also be shy to stand up to the bully who has been mean to you and then they say something like you’re a mijet or monster
How it could help you
It could help people by saying the words at the bottom or writing it down
Showing the picture of your friend and there speaking to them.
Having a chat with different people who you don’t now and then you can get used to it and all that lot and then you want be shy for a while and then you don’t need to speak to strangers and then be shy to them and being quiet.
The End
Thank you for listen to what we did
