THE LOREM IPSUMS SUMMER 2016
Throughout the spring and summer
months and into autumn, M.A.S.T. students
work in the garden at Westminster Church
in Middletown, planting and harvesting
food for a local food bank. Gardening was
completed for 2014 in October when a
group of around ten students volunteered
their time one Tuesday afternoon to clear
the garden space for planting come
springtime. We harvested any green beans
and green bell peppers that had been
overlooked, pulled up plants,
and raked the remaining leaves. The
garden beds are now cleared thanks
to the help of these students!
Par Garden is fun and
rewarding. Working together towards
one common goal with your friends
and fellow Key Clubbers makes for a
fun couple of hours that you can log
as community service! Once Par
Garden begins again, we strongly urge
anyone who is interested to
participate.

THE LOREM IPSUMS SUMMER 2016
You Can Make a Difference! A little bit of time goes a long way when it comes to volunteering.
together to organize the cans made the job
easier and the time go by faster.
Similar to the lunch bagging line at
this year’s District Convention, just a little
bit of time went a long way when there were
so many volunteers. Any of you who
attended DCON will remember the
enormous amount of food M.A.S.T. was
able to bag in a short ten or fifteen minutes!
I hope all of you realize how much of a
difference you can make by volunteering
even an hour of your time. It will be
beneficial to both you and the cause you are
helping.
Volunteering at Lunch Break is a great
opportunity to truly help out a local cause.
Luckily, your Key Club is in the process of
organizing a Lunch Break volunteering event
to take place some time in January!
When I was in middle school, my
friends and I volunteered with Lunch Break
on Saturdays for a few weeks. Our job was to
stack and organize the cans of food donated to
the organization in the basement of the
establishment. It was so fun because I got to
spend time with my friends, as well as make
new friends as there were always Girl Scout
Troops and people from other organizations
and clubs doing the task with us. Working
Food banks and many other organizations are made possible by volunteers like you!
