As the Sanctuary Lights burn to remind us of the Real

Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, we remember the Living and Deceased Priests, the

Seminarians and those who are discerning the call to the priesthood in the Diocese of Greensburg.

FROM THE DESK OF FATHER DINGA It’s hard to believe we’ve come to the end of yet an-other Christmas season. With this Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, we acknowledge the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry as we enter once again into Ordinary Time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from our partner parishes who helped to make our Christmas season so beautiful and prayerful for both St. John and St. Rose, especially given our current guidelines and restrictions. In particular I would like to thank our environment/decorating crews, our dedicated sacristans, our teams of liturgical ministers, our music director and cantors, and our faithful sanitizing crews who have been work-ing at this since we returned to public Mass last June, namely:

Dave and Jackie Thomas Carol Pratt

Vickie Herdman and Emma Pratt Stephanie and John Bosco

Carol Majorsky Pam Henderson

Melissa and Jim Yazvec John and Sharon Smetanka

Terry and Georganna Cavanaugh Ed and Ben Stynchula

Mary Pescatore Carol Chamberlain

Pat Darbous Mary Ann and Lynn Zabkar

John Hovance Matt Wyant & Family

Ralph & Betty Polvinale I would also like to extend a word of gratitude to all those who sent a card or a gift to me during these past few weeks- you helped to make my Christmas a joyful and grace-filled experience. I am truly grateful for your prayers and support and all that you do to make our parishes what they are. Please know that each of you were remembered in my prayers in a special way at a Mass offered for your intention this past Friday, January 8. Let us do our very best to begin this new year full of hope and full of trust, that the Lord will lead us where he wants us to go, mindful that we cannot do this with-out giving ourselves over to him and working together. While none of us knows exactly what the future may hold, we place ourselves in God’s hands and know that he will be with us on this journey no matter what is to come.

Father Dinga

The Mission of ASEC is to empower Sisters in Africa with skills to enable them reach out and serve so many poor and vulnerable people in their Missions. Majority of the Sisters work with limited resources available to them and are determined to make a difference by their witness and works of evangelization. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, no representative will be able to attend in person to have this Appeal at either St. John the Evangelist for St. Rose Parishes this year. However, we are still taking up a collection to send to them as they depend on our financial assistance and material help. So, please be as generous as you are able. Thank you!

Please take a Mission Co-Op envelope from the table in the Narthex. Thank you!

St. Hilary of Poitiers (c. 300 – c. 368), an early Church Father, was one of the greatest theologians during a very troubled period of the Church. St. Hilary defended the divinity of Christ and strongly opposed the Arian heresy. He was ordained Bishop of Poitiers in

Roman Gaul and was known as a brilliant scholar with a humble gentleness. St. Hilary created the first hymns used by the Church in the West; introduced Eastern theology to the Western Church, and proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1851 by Pope Pius IX.
