The Application

Once all applications have been reviewed finalists will be chosen for a phone interview with members of AAA Ohio Auto Club’s Traffic Safety Department, who will make the final decision. Recipients of the grants are chosen based on their academic performance, school and community service, the essay and the interview. Finalists who are interviewed but not awarded the $1,000 grant will receive a $250 grant.

Applications must be submitted and postmarked no later than Friday, February 26, 2021. No application will be accepted without the signature of the guidance counselor or other school official and the applicant.

The ProgramThe AAA School Safety Patrol program has been protecting children going to and from school since 1920. Millions of young people across the United States and 30 other nations worldwide volunteer their time each day to help ensure the safety of their peers.

AAA Ohio Auto Club helps former School Safety Patrol members further their education after graduation through the AAA School Safety Patrol $1,000 Grant program. Each year, we present $1,000 grants to select high school seniors who once participated in the AAA School Safety Patrol program. To date, more than 265 high school seniors have been awarded over $250,000 since the program started during in 1987.

Who can applyStudents from the following counties are eligible to apply: Allen, Auglaize, Belmont, Butler, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Delaware, Erie, Fairfield, Franklin, Guernsey, Hardin, Harrison, Holmes, Knox, Licking, Logan, Madison, Marion, Medina, Mercer, Monroe, Morgan, Morrow, Muskingum, Perry, Pickaway, Putnam, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Stark, Union, Van Wert, Wayne, Wyandot, and the City of Barberton.

How to applyTo apply, students must complete the application form on the next page. Only the official application form or a copy may be used to apply. Additional information is encouraged and may be attached to the application form. Students are also required to write a 500-word essay, submit official school transcripts, and provide at least one written letter of recommendation.
