Beaver County Association of REALTORS®
AUGUST 2012 PRESIDENT’S LETTER
THE REALTOR REPORT
Hello Everyone,
This has been a fantastic year so far. The association is having a
year similar to the Pittsburgh Pirates. A special thanks to the
nominating committee consisting of Janeen Agudio as Chair-
person, Joe Vular, Leslie Chaklos, Colleen Debo, Karen Hutman,
Amy Logan, and Jean Randza. The election slate will be given at
the September 5th membership meeting and you will see the great
job they did in finding candidates.
The next scheduled association meeting is on September 5th at
the Monaca Turners and Jim Palmer from the Beaver County
Corporation for Economic Development will be our guest speaker.
He will be addressing many of the future plans in Beaver County.
The Next event is the Steak Gate on October 4th at Two Mile
Run Park. Bev Pietrandrea and her committee is planning a great
evening for everyone. Remember to bring your nonperishable food
item for the local food bank.
On November 7th will be the Annual Charity Auction to be held
at Javy’s. Last year as an association we were able to donate over
$13,000 to local charities. To accomplish this goal we need everyone
to participate in the donations, plan on attending the auction, and bid-
ding on items. There is still room on the committee if you would like
to volunteer to help with this event. You can contact myself at 724-
774-2222 Ext 218 or the association office at 724-774-4126 to
volunteer. God Bless.

Important Information about Real Estate License Renewal
Staff of a local association recently contacted PAR to tell them that while checking membership lists against
SREC license data, they discovered a number of members who appeared to have not renewed their licenses.
These aren’t people who have dropped out of the business – most indicated that they had mailed their renewal
forms to the Commission, but the Commission says that they never received or processed the paperwork. As
a result, these individuals do not have currently active licenses. In order to practice, they may be required to
pay the reactivation fee ($116 for agents, $201 for broker, plus $5/month in late fees), as well as providing CE
transcripts and stating whether or not they practiced real estate after the renewal date.
PAR does not know if this is a widespread problem, as the recent contact was the first they heard of it. The
Commission staff who handles the renewal process has said she’s not aware of a substantial problem, though
she wouldn’t be, if the problem is that paperwork never made it there.
To help protect our members, we’d suggest the following:
(1) Notifying the members that this issue may exist.
(2) Recommend that the members double-check their license status online at http:/www.licensepa.state.pa.us/.
It will only take a moment, and you’d be spared the problems that would occur if it turns out your licensing
paperwork wasn’t actually processed.
Thus far, it appears to only have affected licensees who renewed by mail, and Commission staff says any
licensee whose license wasn’t renewed by May 31 would have received a notification postcard in the mail,
so those would be two good indicators of a possible problem. If a renewal hasn’t occurred, the members
should immediate contact the Commission.
If you have any questions, please contact BCAR at 724-774-4126. Also if you find this has happened to
you, let me know, so I can keep track. If this affects a lot of the membership then PAR may need to get
involved.
Code of Ethics Training Online Course
It is a requirement of your membership to take Code of Ethics training every four years. The
Quadrennial Code of Ethics Training is due by December 31, 2012. You can take the course online
at www.realtor.com. Hover your mouse over education and click on Code of Ethics Training.
Then click on existing REALTOR code of ethics training and then click take the online course.
The association will automatically be notified that you took the course online. This notification is
used to update our information here and know who has and has not taken the course.
